Gunfire Reborn has many stats and mechanics that you must learn to conquer all the Reincarnation difficulty levels. Still, regardless of whether you are a hardcore or casual player, we are here to guide Gunfire Reborn beginners like yourself, so you can quickly pick up the game and enjoy all it has to offer.
Learning Each Gunfire Reborn Hero’s Strengths
As of writing this guide, there are eight playable characters in Gunfire Reborn, two requiring the Visitors of the Spirit Realm DLC. Regardless of your chosen hero, their talents and passives shift them towards a specific playstyle. We have extensively covered every hero in Gunfire Reborn, so you can check out our detailed guides if a specific character catches your eye.
However, we will briefly describe each hero’s strengths and gameplay style. This will guide Gunfire Reborn beginners like yourself to learn which character will work best for your playstyle.
1. Crown Prince
The Crown Prince is the king of Elemental Fusions. Their primary ability launches a purple orb that locks enemies in place as if they were stuck in time. Their strengths rely on mixing various elements, which results in unique damage types or lots of damage over time. Combining these powers allows the Crown Prince to trap hordes of enemies while melting them down with tons of elemental burst damage.
The Crown Prince will mainly rely on talents that boost certain elemental damage types, and it’s recommended they hunt for weapons that deal elemental damage. They are one of the fastest yet most fragile characters, but they are the first character every new player has access to, so they are an excellent choice for beginners or veterans.
2. Ao Bai
Ao Bai is a gunslinger, capable of making explosions bigger and deadlier while dual-wielding almost any weapon. Two miniguns, rocket launchers, SMGs, you name it, Ao Bai can probably dual wield it. Ao Bai’s strengths rely on never putting his finger off the trigger and showering the battlefield in a hail of bullets or explosions.
If you enjoy being a frontline death machine straight out of a Rambo movie, then Ao Bai is for you. His talents bolster his health and give him damage resistance so he can stick in the thick of a fight. He’s also a relatively simple character that’s great to use and guide Gunfire Reborn beginners.
Your Ao Bai build doesn’t need any specific damage type to be successful, but he does lean into loving Lucky Shot Chance, which gives you a chance to deal double damage on any attack.
3. Qing Yan
Qing Yan is a skilled martial artist who thrives on close-quarters combat with swords or shotguns. Unlike other heroes, Qing Yan builds use Armor, which takes less fire or lightning damage, but more corrosion damage. Armor also doesn’t replenish naturally, so you need to restore your Armor by landing gigantic shockwave kicks and slashes to stay in the fight.
In the right hands, Qing Yan is an unstoppable bruiser whose only weakness is snipers. Because of Qing Yan’s Armor, he needs to stay up close, making him the ideal candidate for shotguns and swords. His talents also boost his damage when close to other enemies and grant him more damage or damage reduction from killing enemies.
4. Lei Luo
Lei Luo is the king of critical hits and snipers. However, their playstyle revolves around sniper rifles, crits, and staying in the backline. Lei Luo not only has the best single target burst damage with guaranteed crits from his Fatal Current ability but has decent AOE with his Chain Lightning ability. They have the potential for the most tremendous burst damage in Gunfire Reborn.
Lei Luo is one of the most fragile characters but has the highest base speed. If you enjoy playing as a glass cannon and melting your enemies with the powers of lightning, a Lei Luo build might be for you. However, we will mention they are one of the most challenging characters to play solo, and they perform better with friends due to their playstyle of staying in the backline.
While we enjoy playing Lei Lui, most beginners to Gunfire Reborn reading this guide will benefit more at this early stage from playing other heroes.
5. Tao
Tao is a master of burst damage and is one of the strongest characters in Gunfire Reborn. Although her artwork showcases her using a sword, her best weapons are actually SMGs. The more times she hits an enemy, she gains charges of Blade Heart. Each stack summons three flying swords, unleashing a flurry of attacks at whatever enemy she is looking at, even while performing other actions.
Combined with her second ability, Fatal Bloom, which marks the enemy for death, she deals more burst damage every time she hits an enemy 12 times. Tons of bullets, swords, and damage. Tao builds in Gunfire Rebron are immensely fun to play. Yet, she needs high attack speed weapons to utilize her abilities and talents, so she’s a little restrictive like Lei Luo.
6. Qian Sui
Qian Sui is a frontliner and a devastating brawler. They doesn’t rely on weapons outside of the early game, and their strengths primarily come from their talents. The more they can keep their unbreakable shield up, the more they can pummel their foes with Striking Punch. A late-game Qian Sui build can tank almost any hit and while smashing their opposition into the dirt.
Gunfire Reborn is a game about using guns with randomized stats, and it’s surprising to witness a character who doesn’t rely on weapons. On top of being the tankiest character, they are also the fastest. The faster Qian Sui can move, the harder their Striking Punch scales. If you enjoy blocking all damage with a shield, moving at the speed of sound, and punching your enemies, Qain Sui is your go-to character.
7. Xing Zhe
Xing Zhe is the first character from the Visitors of the Spirit Realm DLC. They are a weapon master, capable of more gun builds than other Gunfire Reborn characters since they gain extra stats or buffs for every type of weapon. Their strengths revolve around sapping power from their enemies to empower their guns.
Using Xing Zhe’s Essence Chain, you can drain the strength from multiple enemies, thus temporarily buffing your weapon further than normally possible. Usually, heroes upgrade their weapons at the Blacksmith to buff their damage, but Xing Zhe infuses their guns with their enemy’s strength, giving you possibly +9 extra levels from one Essence Chain. That’s thousands of gold in upgrades from using Xing Zhe in Gunfire Reborn.
However, they are a gun-focused character and don’t rely on other sources for damage, so if you want a more gun-focused character, Xing Zhe is for you. This simplicity also means he’s one of our guide’s top recommendations for beginners to Gunfire Reborn.
8. Li
Li is the second character from the Visitors of the Spirit Realm DLC. Where Xing Zhe is weapon-focused, Li is a pyromancer who focuses on stacking spell damage to obliterate waves of foes. Li in Gunire Reborn focuses on fire damage and stores energy from dealing damage to cast a massive fireball from Spiritual Flame. She also calls down Blazing Meteors to ignite her foes and build up power for her devastating fireball.
Li is similar to Lei Luo because of their glass cannon playstyle, but Li is even slower and more fragile than Lei Luo. However, she rivals Tao for being the strongest hero in Gunfire Reborn for her instance amounts of burst damage.
Unlockables and How to Make the Most of Them
Most weapons, Occult Scrolls, and heroes are acquired through unlocks. Weapons and Occult Scrolls are typically unlocked by killing specific enemies several times or with a certain element or damage type. Heroes are unlocked by reaching a certain level on your account and require Soul Essence to buy. You acquire Soul Essence from killing enemies, breaking boxes, and defeating bosses, so it’s effortless to obtain.

Simple Introduction Talents and How to Build with Them
Talents are the primary way of growing your power in Gunfire Reborn. Talents are vital to acquire, and several different trees affect ALL of your characters, as well as a small section that only affects the hero you are currently selecting. Like unlocking heroes, all talents require Soul Essence to purchase.
The Talent Tree has an Expedition section which increases Copper and Improves the Peddler, opens Vaults, and recycles items. The Battle section improves all weapon types, ammo, lucky shot, and critical chance.
The Skill Tree improves your primary and secondary skills and gives you improvements for reviving friends. The Survival Tree improves your hero’s health, shields, damage reduction, and overall defenses.
Lastly, the Weapon tree improves the Blacksmith and gives Gemini Inscriptions and Exclusives inscriptions to your weapons which massively affects stats and gameplay. This tree also lets you etch additional inscriptions into your guns, enhancing them even further.
What Talents are Important for Gunfire Reborn Beginners to Obtain Early?
Overall, if you play Gunfire Reborn enough, you will gain all of the talents eventually, but for newer players, there are a few talents we recommend focusing on.
Exploration
This talent is easy for Gunfire Reborn beginners to obtain and is vital to get an early one. This is because it allows you to unlock Vaults which give more weapons, and Occult Scrolls for defeating challenges.
Exclusive Inscription
This talent causes Exclusive Inscriptions to occasionally appear on weapons you find during your runs. These Inscriptions can massively affect the damage of some weapons, so we highly recommend getting this talent early.
Gemini Inscription
This talent causes Gemini Inscriptions to also appear on weapons. Getting two weapons that share the same Gemini Inscription gives both guns a unique power.
Legendary Craftsman
This is the last talent in the Weapon tree, but getting the ability to pay for Etchs on your weapon, severely improves your early game. It will take a bit of time, but all Gunfire Reborn beginners should prioritize this early on.
Elemental Damage
There are three basic element types, Fire, Lightning, and Corrosion. Each elemental type is weak and strong against a different kind of health. Fire is strongest against base HP, Lightning is strong against Shields, and Corrosion is strong against Armor. Use these elements to counter certain enemies and health values.
Guide to Occult Scrolls for Gunfire Reborn Beginners
Lastly, we will mention Occult Scrolls. These scrolls give your hero passive buffs that make up most of your damage. Occult Scrolls can improve nearly every aspect of your character, including:
- Health.
- Shields/ Armor.
- Lucky Shot Chance.
- Critical Chance / CritX.
- Elemental Damage/ Chance.
- Movement Speed.
- And much more.
These items will always aid you in every run unless you obtain a Cursed Occult Scroll. Also, remember you can drop Occult Scrolls if they benefit your friends better or counter your build somewhat.
