Unlike previous difficulty levels, Reincarnation offers more challenges and rewards to enhance your gameplay further. In this short guide, we will give you the rundown of all the changes to best tackle Reincarnation in Gunfire Reborn.
How to Unlock Reincarnation Difficulty in Gunfire Reborn
Like other difficulty modes, Reincarnation is unlocked upon completing Nightmare mode by finishing your run in either the Duo Fjord or Hyperborean Jokul. Unlike other difficulties, Reincarnation mode has several levels, each scaling the health and damage of all enemies up to the max difficulty; Reincarnation 8. With each increase in difficulty, you are also rewarded additional Soul Essence if you’re successful in overcoming these obstacles.
Here is a short explanation of the changes to Gunfire Reborn made in Reincarnation 1 – 8:
All enemies have an HP and Damage increase that scales up depending on difficulty. Non-boss and elite enemies also drop more Soul Essence.

Spiritual Remnant
Spiritual blessings are extremely powerful buffs that offer brand-new ways to play all the different characters in Gunfire Reborn. A Spiritual Remnant will appear at the start of each act, offering three spiritual blessings that can be purchased with Soul Essence. These spiritual blessings are extremely powerful and can alter your character’s power in various ways. The Spiritual Remnant will only offer three different blessings, but these can alternate between blessings available to all Heroes or ones exclusive to whichever character you are playing.
For example, the Crown Prince has a powerful, unique blessing called Elemental Maestro. This blessing grants your Crown Prince build in Gunfire Reborn a buff every ten seconds. That buff grants him +100% Elemental damage. Moreover, it guarantees Elemental Effects to occur while the buff lasts. Taking this blessing at the start of any act will drastically increase your power and impact your Reincarnation run in Gunfire Reborn greatly.
Bizarre Dream
The Bizarre Dream can be enabled to gain more effects or change your runs. The Bizarre Dream introduces two new options that you can toggle on and off. The first option is Spiritual Link, a system that provides a variety of sets, each containing Occult Scrolls, Ascensions, or weapons. Spiritual Link offers suggestions for build paths that reward you with new buffs for completing the Link.
For example, if you wanted to obtain the Guardian Warrior set for your Xing Zhe build in Gunfire Reborn, which rewards you with a 30% damage reduction, you will need to obtain three Occult Scrolls or Ascension in the set. For Guardian Warrior, you need to obtain Shattered Soul, Enduring Caster, Surprise Bonus, Spirit Bible, or Rich’s Privileges. You only need to obtain three, so getting rank three on Shattered Soul will grant you the buff or obtaining any number of the previously mentioned Occult Scrolls.
The Second Bizarre Dream option is the Mysterious Jokul, with makes the Hyperborean Jokul significantly harder but with slight bonuses to help you prepare.
Pros
- All Peddlers and Phantom Peddlers will have a free shop refresh.
- The Spiritual Remnant at the start of Hyperborean Jokul will not be frozen and allows you to buy a blessing from them. If you already have three blessings, you can discard one to obtain a new blessing.
- Challenge events grant an extra ten Soul Essence.
Cons
- All enemies in the Hyperborean Jokul receive an additional 2.1x HP, Shields, or Armor.
- All elite enemies fought will be enhanced, making them far more powerful.
- The Royal Guard spiritual Blessing is always active; players cannot purchase it. Royal Guard guarantees an elite monster at the end of a pre-boss stage. However, Royal Guard behaves slightly differently if enabled by this challenge, causing the elite monster to spawn at the end of stage one in the Hyperborean Jokul rather than stage four.
- The fight against the Pole Monarch will be harder. There is always a challenge event, even if the difficulty isn’t as hard as Reincarnation 8 in Gunfire Reborn.
- Pole Monarch will gain all four enhancements instead of two, achieved at every 20% threshold of his aura bar.
- When playing in multiplier, each time Pole Monarch begins to drain an aura jar, an invincible clone of the Pole Monarch will spawn and attack the player with all enhancements active. This clone can spawn twice and lasts until phase two.
The Mysterious Jokul serves as an extra layer of challenge to the final bonus stage of Gunfire Reborn when playing in Reincarnation mode. It truly tests the skill and power of anyone who dares to face it. Unlike other modes, we consider the Mysterious Jokul challenge far more difficult in multiplayer due to the extra clones the Pole Monarch spawns.
Phantom Peddler
The Phantom Peddler will randomly appear in stages, similar to the typical Peddler. The Phantom Peddler’s wares are enhanced, offering extra bonuses to Occult Scrolls and weapons that are typically obtainable otherwise. They offer three enhanced weapons and one enhanced Occult Scroll that can be purchased with Soul Essence.
These enhanced scrolls are usually worth the Soul Essence to purchase and can shift your run in loads of different ways. For example, the Occult Scroll Bluff increases your damage by 25% when your HP is full. The enhanced version grants you the same buff in addition to giving you +25% weapon and skill damage as a bonus when your Shield or Armor is full.
Gunfire Reborn’s Reincarnation 8 Difficulty
Reincarnation 8 is the peak of Gunfire Reborn’s difficulty, but in addition to enemies having maxed out HP and damage scaling, there are additional benefits exclusive to this mode.
Multiple Challenge events can appear in each act or multiple times per stage. However, only one challenge event per act will drop an Occult Scroll. This makes every stage far more challenging by putting a random event to keep you on your toes.
Boss stages will always have a challenge event. Even when you are facing down the final boss of the act, you will be impaired by a random challenge event.
New Reincarnation 8 challenges have been added to the event challenge table in Gunfire Reborn. While we won’t go through all the new challenges, we will mention that these new Reincarnation 8 challenge events can appear on any act or be exclusive to certain areas. For example, a new added challenge for the Longing Tomb is Demonic Aura Nirvana, which causes all enemies to transform into a Horsehead or a Horned Beetle upon being defeated.
Each challenge event grants ten extra Soul Essence if you survive these challenges. Gaining extra Soul Essence is a small but welcome addition since the Phantom Peddler and the Spiritual Remnant use Soul Essence as currency. It’s a minor change, but it makes Soul Essence relevant after you unlock all the talents.
