Gunfire Reborn is an underrated roguelike FPS that blends gunplay with randomized stats and perks that make every run feel unique and different. Lei Luo is the fourth playable Hero in the game and is unlocked upon reaching Talent level 55. He specializes in ranged combat, focusing on dealing high burst damage and synergizing with critical hits.
Lei Luo Summary
Lei Luo was born with thunder tattoos, which allow him to manipulate lighting to strike his enemies. Through continuous training, he can integrate his talent for controlling lightning to infuse his firearms with devastating power. Lei Luo’s playstyle focuses on using Snipers and other weapons that allow him to stay far in the backline while dealing lots of burst damage.
Even if Lei Luo’s Ascension focuses on keeping away from enemies and attacking enemies that get too close, his abilities will still have great synergy with many weapons. However, we still highly recommend sticking to Sniper weapons because his abilities synergize much better with single-shot weapons.
How Lei Luo’s Abilities Work in Gunfire Reborn
Fatal Current
Fatal Current is Lei Luo’s primary ability in Gunfore Reborn. Upon activating Fatal Current, Lei Luo gains 30% movement speed and 50% skill DMG for five seconds. During this period, the first shot that hits an enemy deals 100% extra damage and summons a thunderbolt that strikes for an additional 800 DMG. After this ability hits an enemy, Fatal Current ends and goes on cooldown.
Fatal Current’s bonus damage also deals Lightning damage to the hit enemy, making Fatal Current more lethal to enemies with shields. If you miss during Fatal Current’s five-second buff, the missing shot doesn’t end Fatal Current early.
Chain Lightning
Chain Lightning is Lei Luo’s secondary skill in Gunfire Reborn. Using it fires a bolt of lightning at an enemy dealing Lightning damage with a 20% chance of inflicting Shock. Chain Lightning can bounce up to two other enemies that are close enough.
Lei Luo Strengths
Lei Luo’s Strengths mainly rely on staying isolated in the backline and potentially one-shotting enemies. His unique talents focus on this playstyle even more since the first and last talent he can acquire involves using a Sniper. His first talent guarantees bosses dropping an extra Sniper Rifle for him to equip. The final talent gives him a 50% chance of triggering a critical hit with 70% of a weapon’s critical multiplier when missing weak spots.
Most of his Ascension options also focus on this playstyle while continuing the theme of making his crits hit harder and amping up his lightning damage. Since Lei Luo deals tons of Lightning damage with his Chain Lightning ability, it’s relatively easy to stack Miasma on targets if you can obtain a corrosive weapon.
Tips & Tricks to Playing Lei Luo in Gunfire Reborn
Lei Luo is like Ao Bai, and they primarily focus on amplifying their weapons over elemental synergies or stacking skill power. Sniper Rifles typically come with high critical multipliers; thus, hitting weak points can nearly one shot most enemies once you get to stage four. Stacking critical multipliers also synergizes heavily with Lei Luo’s Weapon Boost Ascension tree, making him the best Hero to stack anything that can synergize with critically striking.
You should always be sticking far away from your foes whenever possible unless you are using a melee weapon or don’t particularly enjoy using most of Gunfire Reborn’s Snipers. Most of the guns Lei Luo synergizes with have delays between shots, and the majority of their damage comes from striking weak points, which for most enemies are their heads.
It’s significantly more challenging to reliably headshot enemies in melee range or while they are rushing you. Typically most Heros in Gunfire Reborn perform similarly whether you are playing solo or with friends. Still, we found that Lei Luo is a bit stronger in multiplier since teammates will likely want to be in the front line. Less attention on you means you can find a high perch to snipe down from.
Lei Luo’s Best Talents
Every character in Gunfire Reborn has three talent trees that focus on enhancing their guns, abilities, or granting extra utility. Lei Luo’s talent tree enhances his weapon DMG, Fatal Current, or affects his Chain Lightning combo. While there are viable builds for focusing on one tree primarily over the rest, focusing mainly on the weapon DMG and Chain Lightning trees makes his crits more fatal and his single target DPS more AOE oriented.

Shadow Knight
Lei Luo gains extra weapon DMG and skills DMG if there is no enemy within 10 meters, scaling down to 5 meters at max rank. The additional DMG scales up from 30%,60%, to 100% bonus weapon and skill DMG.
This Gunfire Reborn talent only works if you are heavily leaning into the Sniper build and playstyle for Lei Luo since you need to keep away from your foes to get that damage bonus. It’s a massive DMG increase if you consistently stick in the backline, but this talent can feel useless in boss arenas due to the lack of space.
Eye of the Storm
When you hit an enemy with a Sniper, each follow-up shot to the same target deals 15%, 25%, and up to 50% total weapon DMG. Eye of the Storm is especially fantastic for the earlier stages of your run since your build isn’t guaranteed to be one-shotting enemies at this point. Dealing every damage to any target who survived your first shot is great, and it helps shred bosses. The only downside to taking this talent is when you start one-shotting enemies, but by that point, no one considers that a downside.
Electric Circuit
Chain Lighting connects all affected targets together and completes a circuit. The Next time you hit a connected target, 40%, 70%, and up to 100% of the DMG is transmitted to all connected targets. Electric Circuit is a fantastic talent that elevates Lei Luo’s single target damage into AOE damage, with no downside. This talent also synergizes with Tesla Coil, increasing the amount of bounces Chain Lightning has and increasing Electric Circuits damage.
Lightning From Void
Every Crit has a chance to trigger Chain Lightning. The higher your critical multiplier is, Lightning From Void also has a higher chance of triggering. However, this talent can only activate once per second, but with a cooldown window this brief, you will hardly notice it. This talent also enhances Lei Luo’s AOE damage by allowing any crit to proc a free Chain Lightning.
Voltage Surge
A critical hit will make the enemy take additional critical damage, scaling from 10%, 115%, to 40% for four seconds. If the weapons critical multiplier is larger than 4x, the scaling increases by 20%, 30%, to 40%. The extra scaling helps the earlier levels of this talent, and it’s a welcome addition since it’s not guaranteed that you will be able to level every Ascension talent to the max level every single run.
Voltage Surge synergizes exceptionally well with the Sniper playstyle, for which Lei Luo already has many strengths. Sniper Rifles typically have the highest critical multiplier, making this talent even more vital if you primarily use Snipers.

Alternate Talents for Lei Luo in Gunfire Reborn
A few other strong talents to grab are Voltaic Aegis, Thunderbolt Converter, Hyper Current, and Storm Blast. Voltaic Aegis increases your maximum Shields and grants damage reduction every few seconds during Fatal Current. Each stack is lost when you take damage and remains indefinitely so long as you avoid getting hit. Thunderbolt Converter adds extra total DMG on your next shot or skill after Chain Lightning inflicts damage.
Hyper Current increases Chain Lightning’s damage and deals extra damage at max rank after the bouncing ends. Lastly, Storm Blast Adds additional DMG for the first shot that hits an enemy during Fatal Current.
Weapon Builds for Lei Luo in Gunfire Reborn
Overall, all Sniper weapons should be a high priority on a solid Lei Luo Gunfire reborn build. Most notably, players should focus on the Golden Bow, Strike Wing, Lighting Kasana, and the Bloody Drill. The Golden Bow is an excellent weapon for playing a mid-range build and refunds one ammo if you kill an enemy within 25 meters, making the low ammo pool that heavy weapons have less of a problem. The Strike Wing naturally creates smaller arrows that fire out from the original target. Each extra arrow also has a decent chance to spread any elemental effect, which pairs well with Lei Luo’s Lightning damage.
The Lightning Kasana doubles down on Lei Luo’s natural strengths, and the Bloody Drill’s bleed is very helpful for shredding armored targets. If you are looking for non-Sniper weapons, we also recommend the Scalpel, and the Arc Light, since they both synergize off lightning and are great weapons overall.
Despite the fact that Lei Luo’s splash art shows him using the Deafening Mortar, the weapon doesn’t provide a lot of synergies with his abilities. The gun is always strong, but it’s better on an Ao Bai build since he can fully utilize the weapon’s explosive power, and Lei Luo can only enhance the first blast.
