Marauders is a looter, first-person extraction shooter with light survival mechanics. This exciting combinations makes combat more complex than other, more casual shooting games. Marauders take a little of every other extraction looter out there by keeping everything straightforward and adding a few more mechanics to spice things up.
In Marauders, space pirates have the task of going into space stations and ships to complete missions and contracts. When in the field, they can loot items or materials to sell, scrap, or use them on other raids. Yet, when a player perishes, all the equipment they carry is lost.
When players prepare to land on a space station, they may face another challenge: being breached. Breaching allows players to breach into enemy ships and clash in first-person combat for control of the spaceship. In today’s guide, we will be covering how to survive when being breached. For more tips on being the aggressor and how to breach enemy spaceships in Marauders, check out our companion guide.
How Does Marauders Combat Work
Combat in Marauders is somewhat similar to other survival and extraction looters. Marauders implement calibers and types of armor that allow players to select more potent weapons to penetrate more heavily protected enemies. Healing items are also available, including food and drinkables, that will replenish health in the area where they took damage.
Marauders offer varied weaponry, from assault rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, sidearms, melee weapons, bolt-action rifles, and more. There are so many choices that we’ve created a list of the best weapons in Marauders. Players have to decide what kinds of weapons they take into their raid. Players must also consider what armor they are wearing and their capabilities based on this. As an example, a player wearing light armor will quickly fall to players using 7.62 ammo.

Overview of How Breaching Works in Marauders
Marauders makes players spawn in space before raids. In space, they have to fly into the map or other ships and can get engaged by NPCs and other enemy players.
This game offers players a variety of vessels with different stats, each one suited for different scenarios.
During a space battle, it is likely that one of the players involved will try to breach another spaceship to go into close-quarters, first-person combat.
Breaching is a mechanic that gives players that lost a space battle a second chance of surviving and escaping the match or trying to bring the fight to the enemy ship into a face-to-face action.
How Enemy Marauders Will Breach Your Ship
Players must jump into an escape pod to breach another ship. Once in the pod, they must fly to their target ship. Once close to the ship, a prompt appears on the screen, allowing players to press ‘’F’’ (Default) and breach the other boat.
Players will be instantly spawned inside the ship with a small chunk of health lost due to the breaching impact once they have boarded it. This helps you as a defender in that you will have a bit of an advantage over the Marauders who breached your spaceship. Yet, this is only a slight advantage; be on your guard.
Players can identify escape pods by the bright and shiny light that glows when someone is inside one of these pods. If you do not want to have your spaceship breached, try to dodge away from these escape pods. If one catches up with you, you may have no choice but to be breached in Marauders without reaching your mission target first.
Can NPCs Breach My Spaceship?
While real players can breach NPC ships such as the Capital Ship, Interceptor, and Merchant Frigate, NPCs are currently unable to breach a player ship, even if their frigate gets destroyed. In other words, only human players can breach and board your ship in Marauders.
Best Guns to Defend Your Ship when Being Boarded
The weapon a player is using is essential to know if they can take a fight or not. Here we will list our three recommendations for what guns to use.
Thompson
The Thompson submachine gun excels at close range thanks to its high mag capacity, which you can improve by adding a drum mag. It deals significant damage of 25 hit points per bullet and has a controllable recoil that you can also reduce by adding the Thompson Wood Stock.

Tips on How to Act When Enemies Breach Your Ship
These tips have worked for us when repelling attacks from enemies who have breached our Marauders ship.
Leave The Cockpit to Survive Your Boarding in Marauders
While the cockpit is a safe room where no one can get to you from behind, it is the most predictable room in a ship to find defenders, and experienced, heavily-armored players will easily gun you down.
Moreover, the cockpit leaves you with no rotating options, making it horrible when fighting more than one enemy. Therefore, our first tip on how to defend against breaching actions in Marauders is to leave the cockpit. Make your boarders guess where you are. Try to set up an ambush on your terms if you want to win control of your ship.
Go on the Offensive in Marauders if Your Ship is Breached
Most experienced players will be very aggressive right from the start. They will usually assume you are cornered down in the cockpit, so try to surprise them and punish them. Use everything to your advantage. Marauders players can also predict that their ship will be breached before it happens, so go ahead and put yourself in a location that will allow you to take down the breach quickly.
Hold Your Angles
If you are not an aggressive player that is effective at pushing or fighting more than one enemy, go to a place that is not the cockpit and hold that angle. Remember that you should have a place where you can rotate if combat goes south.
Surviving is Winning
If you see that two or more enemies are about to breach and you are carrying valuable loot or don’t have the right equipment, run to the escape pods before they get in to escape. Most players won’t agree with this one, but you have to remember that the final objective of any match is extracting. If you don’t make it out with any of your great loot, you wasted your time.
While staying to defend your ship that has been breached seems like the valiant thing to do, remember that crafting in Maruaders can be used to make more ships.
Kill Them Before They Get In
While it’s hard to land rockets at an escape pod, you still have a shot of killing your enemies before they reach your ship.
Be Always On The Move
Rotating will confuse your enemy’s confidence as you will not be an easy target that is just standing still like an NPC. You must always shoot and move, switch angles, and push your enemy.
Put Those Expensive Headphones to Good Use
Sound wins matches in a game like this. If you don’t know where your enemies in Marauders are, stop in a safe spot and try to get intel on their location by listening to their movements. Once you have enough intel, you can now make a move on them.
Remember that your sounds will also help your enemy, especially against very experienced players who have breached your Marauders spaceship.
Conclusions to Our Breaching Survival Guide for Marauders
Remember that this is a videogame where there will always be someone much more skilled than you. You can’t win all the fights. But hopefully, you are now able to increase your chances of surviving in Marauders when your ship gets breached by other players.
