With the current trend of extraction looters and battle royales in the gaming industry, only a few games stand out among the dozens of games that are part of these genres. Marauders is a PvP and PvE game developed by Small Impact Games and published by Team17; it was released on October 3rd of the current year and is gaining success as an exaction first-person shooter game.
Marauders introduced some new and interesting mechanics to the genre, such as the players being able to fly into the map on a spaceship with the ability of dog fighting other players and breaching their spaceships.
One of the main PvP space mechanics in Marauders is players being able to breach other spaceships to try to kill the players inside and steal their loot and ship. Doing this action can be hit or miss, and the breacher will likely die due to their disadvantage. That is why we have created this guide to help you maximize your potential when breaching and boarding enemy ships. Overview of Marauders Core Gameplay
Marauders is a PvP and PvE first-person shooter and extraction looter where players must fight other players and AI enemies to survive. Marauders can is easily compared to games such as Escape From Tarkov as players have to manage their loot and storage, the different types of armor and weapon calibers, and also worry about eating and drinking to maintain their stamina.
The game also lets the players craft specific equipment that goes from low-tier to high-tier, with materials either gathered from their raids or scrapped from recycled items in their inventory.
Marauders might not be as hardcore as Escape From Tarkov, but it aims for the same audience.
In addition, Small Impact Games decided to take this genre a step further. Players need to get onto the map themselves and survive other players, but they must also extract from the level and then extract with their ship into space. This new mechanic allows a window of options for players, such as intercepting other players on their spaceship and fighting with their cannons or breaching them and fighting face to face.
The game can be quite daunting for some new players, especially with the mechanic that players can lose items and weapons when they are taken out. For new players, we created a beginner guide to Marauders to help them out.
Overview of The Breaching Mechanic in Marauders
Breaching allows players to enter enemy ships to fight and steal their loot. It is one of the coolest features in Maraduers. This mechanic can be dangerous as the breacher gets a few disadvantages; When breaching, players lose a small amount of health due to the impact; also, the breacher has no way to know how many players are on the ship. And last but not least, the breacher’s main spaceship is complete. Vulnerable when the players are breaching another vessel.
Difference Between a Player and an NPC ship
NPC spaceships can also get breached, and players might be able to find high-tier loot and weapons. This action can be hazardous as the breacher might have to fight heavily armed NPCs and other players trying to take the spaceship.
NPCs Spaceships can be rare to rare, and they are highly random.
When breaching a real player spaceship, it is highly possible that they only have to fight the enemies inside, but in some scenarios, other players might want to join the party too.
How to Breach Another Spaceship Marauders
To breach, players must first get into Escape Pods, usually located around most ships’ engines. Once in the Espace Pod, players must get close to the enemy ship and click F once they get the breaching prompt. Players will be inside the enemy ship now and ready to fight.
Players can also use Escape Pods located inside the Space Stations.
Disadvantages and Advantages of Breaching Another Spaceship in Marauders
Breaching a Ship in Marauders can be a high-risk, high-reward action, especially when breaching paid ships.
Disadvantages
- The Breacher has no idea of the number of players inside the ship
- Breacher loses a small amount of health on impact
- Player ship is completely vulnerable
- No previous intel about enemy equipment tier, and players might be out-geared for the enemy they are trying to fight.
- The Breacher spaceship can be stolen.
- Enemies can just escape and evade the fight with the breacher.
Advantages
- The Breacher can secure high-value loot without entering the space station
- Players can steal enemy ships
- The Breacher gains more XP for successfully breaching a ship and killing the crew members.
Best Guns and Armor for Breaching in Marauders
Likely, a player might not be planning to breach another spaceship before the match, but it might be necessary for some situations. If a player plans to breach before the Marauders’ match starts, these are some of the best weapons and equipment.
Weapons
For weapons, it is better to go with something fit for close-quarters combat.
- UZI Sub-machine gun
- PPSH-41
- Sawed Off Shotgun
- MP40
- Trench Gun Shotgun
All of these guns will be able to tear enemy players apart in CQC. Keep in mind that lower calibers might struggle against enemies with high-tier armor.
Armor
Armor in Marauders is more up to the personal preference of the player. If the breacher doesn’t want to risk a high-tier armor, then a level 6 or 7 armor should do the job. If the breacher wants considerably more protection, then armor level 9 might be the best choice.
Tips to Do A Successful Breach on Marauders
Breaching can happen anytime, and players must always be prepared to do it. Sometimes, even if it is not in the player’s plans, their ship can be destroyed, forcing them into an Escape Pod which leaves players with only two options; extract from the lobby or steal an enemy spaceship to be able to enter the map.
Be Ready to be Aggressive
There is nothing scarier than an aggressive and confident breacher in Marauders. Once you breach an enemy spaceship, go for them before they try something funny like leaving in an escape pod or flying to an extraction point.
Heal-Up during the Breaching Animation
Players will lose a significant amount of health on impact when breaching an enemy ship, but there is a small window where players can heal by pressing the TAB key and using a healing item before they gain control of their character.
Check Every Corner
As mentioned before, getting breached is a scary situation on Marauders; players can be sitting in corners waiting for you in the shadows.
Do Not Let Enemies Escape
Before you head to the pilot’s cabin, check for any enemies trying to escape through an Escape Pod.
Hit N’ Run
If you are in a gunfight and nobody dies, do not pick the same corner, and never forget that headshots hurt a lot in this game, and the enemy player can be ready to pick that wall again to land a bullet between your eyes. Shoot and reposition.
Sound is Your Best Friend
If you were fighting an enemy and now you don’t know where they are, crouch and don’t move to try to pick any sound clue the enemies can make to gain intel on their position.
Anti-Personal Mines
These can be hard to get, but they can be helpful in a breach to lure enemies into pushing you through a certain angle where you have your mindset.
