How to Play Breach in Valorant

If you want to learn how to play Breach in Valorant, then you are in the right place. However, before we move on to Breach, we would like to share some backstory to this Breach guide first. The Valorant professional scene crowned their first-ever World Champions at the end of last year. The odds are stacked in Riot Games favor to take Valorant to the next level and potentially make it the most popular FPS game out there. However, we have noticed a problem that we want to help them solve today!

Most players prefer to play agents like Jett, Sova, or Raze, as they provide you with a lot of carrying potential. In contrast, agents like Breach have been picked only in 15% of the competitive games in the last year. It is a big problem currently plaguing the Valorant community, and it’s not Riot Games fault but instead of the players who are misplaying Breach.

This Breach guide will walk you through your role in different team compositions and how you should play accordingly. Most importantly, the little tips and tricks you won’t find anywhere else! If you are ready to master the Swedish brute and want to take your games by storm, then it’s time we go on a journey to learn not only Breach but Valorant fundamentals too!

    Breach’s Role

You need to understand that Breach isn’t a duelist. You can’t go into the enemy territory expecting to escape like Jett or Raze if things don’t go your way in the aim duels. The fundamental quality that makes Breach stand out among his competitors is that each of his abilities is absolutely phenomenal and can be used in different scenarios. We will talk about each ability later in this Breach guide, so stay with us until the end of this Valorant guide.

Valorant classifies Breach as an agent of the Initiator class that can act as an entry tool, but we feel like he is more than that. Breach is more of a disruptor as he can absolutely crush the enemy team’s plan single-handedly, but to do that, you need to make sure you stay alive for as long as you can.

The primary purpose while playing Breach should be to acquire map knowledge with your engagement tools. You will rarely find yourself in a situation where the other team takes you down first, so make sure you catch them off guard when they least expect your offensive kit!

How to Use Breach’s Abilities in Valorant

This section of our Breach Guide will walk you through how Breach’s abilities work and how you can use them effectively in your own games. However, it would be impossible to walk you through every single angle or spot. You should use them in different maps, but you will start noticing a pattern if you carefully read them. That’s why it is time to stop doing whatever you are doing and grab your notepads because this will be the make or break section of our Breach guide!

    1- Fault Line (E):

Fault Line is Breach’s passive ability and one that you would get every single round without any cost! It won’t be wrong to say that it is one of the most underrated and misunderstood abilities out there in Valorant. We have seen players use it without reason at the start of a round. It just allows your enemies to play without any added threat if your teammates didn’t follow up on your Fault Line.

How to play Breach in Valorant and use Fault Line
    Fault Line

The best way to use the ability is to communicate with your entry fragger and tell them which angle you would be clearing with your seismic blast. That’s the whole point of Fault Line! You need to ensure that your entry fragger can focus on one angle without worrying about someone shooting them from a spot you could have cleared with your Fault Line! If you are using Fault Line and then running to check the same angle before your entry fragger, you aren’t playing Breach correctly!

The way you use Fault Line is simple if you have understood the fundamental efficient usage we explained above. All you need to do is press your E, and Breach equips the seismic blast. You can then hold fire to increase the distance traveled for the ability.

An example of a good scenario to use Breach’s Fault Line ability

A good example is clearing both A Cubby and the door of U Haul on Bind while attacking. You will clear not one but two angles at the same time, and your duelist can focus on the enemy players holding the A Tower or Truck angle!

Another great example is using your Fault Line at Ascent A site. The most effective position to use is from the Boiler towards A Entrance. This would clear any camping enemies, and your teammates can focus on A Heaven or Generator.

We hope you understand the fundamental purpose of Fault Line and will clear common enemy locations to attain more map knowledge and territory to play with your seismic blast!

    2- Aftershock (C):

If you want to know how to play Breach in Valorant at full power, then you need to learn how to use Aftershock effectively. We all have watched our teammates spam this ability without any real purpose, but if they had used it properly, you might have won a lost round!

The way Aftershock works is straightforward. You press your C ability button and then fire the ability that results in a slow-acting burst passing through a wall dealing damage to all the enemies caught in the line. That’s what everyone tries to do, so why are we saying that is incorrect? You will understand in the next few seconds.

If you have previously played Breach and used the ability, you would have noticed that the release time is very slow, and the opponents can quickly get out of the hitbox. However, what they cannot do is not make a noise while escaping. You or your teammates can easily take them down with a clean headshot because you will be already aiming for them to come out and engage in an aim duel!

The idea with Aftershock is to attain map knowledge by clearing common enemy locations. It will result in your team safely acquiring more territory and the enemy team having limited options!

An example of a good scenario to use Aftershock

An excellent example for you to better use Aftershock is entering Split A Site while attacking. You can use Aftershock for A Hell, and even if the enemies expect that, they would be unable to do anything other than changing their position, which will, in theory, give your team one less angle to clear!

    3- Flashpoint (Q):

Welcome to why Breach will always be a powerful agent despite any nerfs to him. Flashpoint is one of the best and my favorite flash ability in Valorant. There is no way you can stop it, unlike Skye or Reyna’s flash, and the projectile speed is better than the likes of Phoenix or Omen!

How to play Breach in Valorant and use Flashpoint
    Flashpoint

You will use Flashpoint to use and quickly clear the angles you are certain the enemy teams were holding. Flashpoint also allows you to play aggressively on the defense. If you have noticed the enemy team consistently punishing your team through one path, then it would be a good idea to use your Flashpoint and take one or two down with you. It will make your team’s life easier as the enemy would now have to change their game plan to avoid you.

To use Flashpoint, all you need to do is press your Q that will immediately equip a blinding charge that you can shoot in your desired trajectory with the fire button on your mouse. The charge detonates to blind enemies instantly, but you must remember that it takes around half a second to come into play due to nerfs. That’s why don’t go running in before even the opposing player is flashed, as there is a slight risk of them landing a lucky headshot on you!

An example of a good scenario to use Flashpoint

We will talk about Split again. If you want to learn how to play Breach in Valorant properly, you need to master this map! Suppose you are trying to enter into the A site while attacking or defending the A site. In that case, you can single-handedly turn the round around by taking one or two members with you and putting pressure on the enemy team.

Flashpoint is a unique ability that allows Breach to take matters into his own hands. If you feel confident, don’t be hesitant to act as the entry fragger for your team despite it being against the don’t die first resolution we discussed previously in this how to play Breach in Valorant guide.

    4- Rolling Thunder (X)

The most terrifying ability of Breach’s offensive kit helps you turn around the flow of rounds on your own! Rolling Thunder is your signature ability and one of the most significant incentives to play as Breach. Unlike other signature abilities of the strongest agents in-game, the ability is effortless to use. When you press your X, you equip a seismic charge. Once you fire the ability in your desired trajectory, a cascading quake is sent across any terrain that stuns and knocks up anyone caught in it.

How to play Breach in Valorant and use Rolling Thunder
    Rolling Thunder

An important detail to remember is not to use it if your teammates are also present in the area, as the ability will also stun teammates! You also need to be aware that Rolling Thunder isn’t a fast-acting burst but hits in waves, so champions like Jett or Raze can dodge it if they are far away.

An example of a good scenario to use Rolling Thunder

Rolling Thunder is by far one of the best engagement tools in Valorant and allows you to aggressively clear an entire area or sharp angles that the enemies might be holding! A good example is to use it at the mid-site of Split while defending. The enemies will definitely be in a straight line. Even if they know you are holding the high ground, they cannot do a lot when you send a cascading quake in a large cone!

How to play Breach in Valorant like a Pro

You know how to play Breach in Valorant now, but we do have some other tips that will help you take your game to the next level!

    1- Low-Risk Duels

You have control over territory if you know how to play as Breach in Valorant, unlike other best agents, due to your robust utility. Suppose you land the right combination of your abilities to catch a few enemies off guard. In that case, your entire team can play more aggressively. The idea is to constantly engage in aim duels after using your abilities. That will increase your chances of coming out on top, and you will win duels you wouldn’t be otherwise.

    2- Interrupting The Plant/Defuse

Breach is extremely valuable in situations where you have to interrupt the enemy’s plans. Always be in a position where you can use your abilities, later on, to deny any defuse or plant attempts by the other team. That’s what Riot Games designed him for!

    3- Change Up Things!

Suppose you are only playing a single position every round while defending. In that case, the opponents will eventually decide to attack the other bomb site! Always mix up things so they can’t predict where they will be hit by your targeted kinetic blasts next time! This will show the opponents that you really know how to play Breach in Valorant!

Final Thoughts on How to Play Breach in Valorant

Breach is a fantastic initiator and should not be played like a simple duelist. The key to winning when playing with Breach is making great use of his abilities. Use them to understand what your enemy may be doing and then disrupt their plans. If used effectively, you can single-handedly turn many rounds in your team’s favor. The enemy team will be screaming to surrender the Valorant match.

Additional F.A.Q.s about How to Best Use Breach in Valorant

Will Fault Line harm friendly players?

Breach is immune to the results of using his Fault Line ability. Yet, his allies are not immune. Breach players must be careful about when and where they use this powerful ability.

Can Fault Line go through walls?

Yes, Fault Line can go through walls and other protection. This is incredibly handy and useful to remember. Breach is not a front-line agent. He works best through his abilities from behind cover.

Is Breach a good solo agent in Valorant?

Breach is not a good solo agent. If you want to go out on your own to carry the match single-handedly, he is one of the worst options for this style of play. Playing with Breach in Valorant requires you to communicate well with your team. That is why he is most often used more effectively in higher ELOs than lower Valorant ranked tiers.

How powerful is Breach’s Aftershock ability?

Aftershock can be incredibly powerful. It also must be used effectively. It has enough power to take out tanks if they are directly in front when used. However, its damage is reduced with distance fairly quickly. One of the best ways to use this ability is to take out enemies held up on the other side of a doorway or choke-point.
