Marauders is a recently released extraction shooter which follows a similar gameplay loop as Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown. In Marauders, there is a lengthy main questline to help progress your character alongside many daily contracts. Marauders’ Zero to Hero missions aren’t always self-explanatory. Therefor, in this guide, we will help you complete this long questline to increase your chances of survival out in the cold dark space.
Why are Marauders’ Zero to Hero Missions so Important?
The Zero to Hero missions in Marauders is your primary way of progressing outside of gaining reputation with traders, gaining levels, or acquiring loot. The questline not only unlocks different cosmetics that help set you apart from NPCs but grants you access to important items and crafting recipes that are only unlocked in the Zero to Hero questline. It’s extremely important to note that if you Prestige in Marauders, all of your progress on the Zero to Hero quest line will be reset.
While some missions are very straightforward, some take hours to complete fully. The Zero to Hero quest line could be expanded upon in the future, but hopefully, there will be enough time to go through 40 quests before the official 1.0 launch. We will be going through all 40 missions that are available as of Marauder’s early access.
Marauders Gathering List
Several Zero to Hero quests require gathering items or materials, and by prematurely hoarding items, you can prepare for some quests. We highly recommend keeping the following items in stock to get a head-start on completing the Zero to Hero story quests in Marauders:
- 3 Junk Scrap
- 8 Metal Sheets
- 1 Silver Coin
- 3 Ration Crates
- 3 Biscuit Tins
- Blowtorches
- 1911 Governments
- 9 Toolkits
- Trench Guns
- 1 Nuclear Material
- 12 Methamphetamine
- M1A1 Paras
- 5 Mosin Obrez Pistols
- Machetes
- 3 U.A Intel
- 1 Golden Bullion
- Heavy Thompsons
- 3 Medical Crates
- Heavy MG-42s
- 8 Jewelry Boxes
- LPO Flamethrowers
All Missions in the Zero to Hero Questline in Marauders
Marauders is out and playable now with a full set of storyline missions. Unlike conventional storyline missions where your locations reflect your game’s progress, Marauders’ main storyline (called the Zero to Hero questline) is really about completing certain complex objectives in sequence while playing through the game’s sandbox.
These main quest missions are accompanied by a site of side quests that rotate daily in the form of Daily Contracts.
Mission 1: Basic Resupply
Deliver 3 Junk Scrap
This mission can be completed before even launching into your first Raid. Junk Scrap is highly common and can be obtained by scrapping items such as Sack Bags or even weapons. You can also buy cheap armor and scrap it from the trader to complete this quest. You will also have a chance to obtain Synthetic Scrap from recycling armor, which you will need to craft many items such as Bandages.
Mission 2: Repo Man
Examine the Asteroid Half Track Bike for 3 seconds.
The second mission requires players to examine an Asteroid Half Track Bike, but the quest doesn’t indicate where the bike is located. You must go to the Asteroid Mines and head to the Security Area, then head down the ramp until you find a large red bike parked next to the ramp. Interact with the bike for three seconds, and your quest is complete. You will also need to remember where the Security Office is on the Asteroid Mines since you will need to return here for one of Marauders’ Daily Contract missions.
Mission 3: Make Your Mark…
Get 5 kills with any weapon.
The third mission is one of the easiest Zero to Hero quests in Marauders. To complete this quest, you simply need to get 5 kills with any weapon. These kills can be against any type of NPC or player, and there isn’t a strict requirement for this quest.
Mission 4: Stand Out
Kill 3 Marauders.
This mission requires you to kill 3 other players. It’s another straightforward quest, but it could take longer to complete based on your luck with running into other players.
Mission 5: Advanced Resupply
Deliver 8 Metal Sheets
Metal Sheets are commonly found on every map in Marauders. A single stack of Metal Sheets can hold up to five. With a small bag, you can bring at least 5 out of one Raid or all 8 if you have a bigger bag. We recommend always having a small stock of spare Metal Sheets since you also need them for crafting or Daily Contracts.
Mission 6: Pirate Rank
Examine the Merchant Frigate Engine for 25 seconds.
The Merchant Frigate has a chance of spawning in most raids and is often found drifting away from the main building. The engine room is always on one side of the ship, and you can get lucky with your boarding since one of the spawn locations is the engine room. Be sure to clear the nearby room of hostels since you have to stand still holding the interact key for 25 seconds.
Mission 7: Guild Membership
Deliver a Silver Coin
Silver Coins are uncommon but are easy to obtain. Often dead NPCs wearing blue uniforms have a chance of dropping a Silver Coin, or you can always find a few by opening Jewelry Boxes’ or from inside Vaults.
Mission 8: Scouting Party
Hold the Furnace for 90 seconds.
For the eighth mission, head to the Asteroid Mine and rush to the Furnace. The Furnace area is located down the ramp from the Security Office. To complete this quest, you must simply stay within the area for 90 seconds. You can check your process in Raid by opening your inventory because you might be too far away from the objective zone.
Mission 9: The Legend Begins
Kill 20 Security
For the 9th Zero to Hero mission in Marauders, you must traverse back to the Merchant Ship and eliminate 20 Security. Roughly over 10 to 15 Security personnel spawn every Raid, which will take you between 1-3 trips on the Merchant Ship, and since it doesn’t spawn every Raid, this quest might take a while, depending on your luck with spawn rates.
Mission 10: Merchant Inspector
Discover the Merchant Marked Container
We hope you liked hunting for the Merchant Ship because you will be going back again. On the Merchant Ship, there is a large market shipping container, located in the second large storage area on the lower deck. The marked shipping container is marked with a small red line on the side, simply interact with the marking for three seconds, and your quest is complete.
Mission 11: Major Tom
Destroy 5 Radar Turrets
By now, you’ve likely seen or blown up a dozen Radar Turrets while playing Marauders. You will find these turrets floating in space outside of the Raid. Simply destroy five of them, and the quest is completed. It’s worth mentioning that you must be the one to destroy them. If your squadmate shoots them down, you will receive no credit.
Mission 12: Run Dry
Deliver 3 Ration Crates
This is another straightforward Zero to Hero quest. You can find Ration Crates in Vaults, military crates, medical areas, and barracks. Ration Crates often spawn on the floor or on a shelf, so stock up while you can.
Mission 13: Behind Locked Doors
Hold the Mine Depot Door for 30 seconds.
In the Asteroid Mine, you may have encountered a locked metal door that requires a token to enter your previous raids. If you haven’t, a Depot door is located near the Furnace area or next to the Cafeteria. To enter the Depot, you need a Mine Token, which has a chance of spawning on blue NPC bodies around the Asteroid Mine. These tokens are extremely rare to find, and the token is consumed once the door is opened. Once you acquire a token, you must stay inside the room for 30 seconds to complete the quest.
Mission 14: Pirate Competition
Kill 8 Marauders.
This Marauders Zero to Hero quest needs little explanation. Simply kill 8 other players to complete this quest. Go above and beyond, though, and do it with some flair worth of a space pirate!
Mission 15: Cookie Monster
Deliver 3 Biscuit Tins
This is another straightforward quest. You can find Biscuit Tins in any raid, in the Merchant Ship, or in areas like the Cafeteria in Asteroid Mine.
Mission 16: Path Finder
Destroy 7 Rocket Turrets.
Yet another straightforward Zero to Hero quest. Like Radar Towers, Rocket Turrets are scattered around in space outside the main building. It’s worth mentioning that the turrets on top of the Navy Outpost do not count.
Mission 17: Vault Raider
Hold the Terraformer Vault for 90 seconds.
For this mission, having a Blowtorch is mandatory. The previous assignment should have rewarded you with a Blowtorch, and you must use it to enter the Vault on Terraformer. The Vault on Terraformer is in the dome marked “Terraformer B.” Three large buildings sit on the dome’s outer ring, but one has deactivated sentry turrets on the roof. Look for that building and go up the stairs to the second floor, and you will find the Vault.
If you haven’t opened a vault before, you need to put the Blowtorch in your weapon slot and melt off the three latches on the right side of the door. After opening the Vault, simply stay inside for 90 seconds.
Mission 18: Government Issue
Get 12 kills with the 1911 G Pistol
The 1911 Government Pistol is a 1911 variant that spawns in Security Offices, Admin Offices, Military Checkpoints, and the Foreman’s Office. Check one of these spawn locations and hope someone hasn’t already looted this handgun. If you successfully acquire this sidearm in Marauders, get 12 kills against any enemy.
Mission 19: Strike Team
Craft and Deliver 3 M1 Flak Rigs
This quest is simple since M1 Flak Rigs are craftable. We recommend stocking up on Leather Straps, and you can find Leather Jerkins out of any raid. Scrap them for a chance to obtain the crafting materials.
Mission 20: Station Invasion
Hold the Space Station Bar for 5 minutes.
For the twentieth task in the Zero to Hero questline for Marauders, simply hold the Bar in the Spaceport for five minutes. The objective room is very generous, and you can hide outside the Bar or on the second floor as long as you are in the room. The Bar is also a high-traffic area, so be ready to defend yourself, or go into the Raid with nothing and hide in the corner for five minutes.
If you plan to fight it out in this Marauders mission, make sure you take yourself a good set of armor and helmet. The large number of enemies can be quite challenging.
Mission 21: The Butcher
Get 15 kills with a Bowie Knife
The Bowie Knife is available as a crafting recipe you can unlock. However, during our Marauders playthrough, we didn’t have to use the Bowie Knife to get kills for this Zero to Hero quest. This may be a bug, but scoring kills with our guns did yield progress on this quest, so long as the Bowie Knife was in our knife slot. We don’t know if this will be patched out in the future, but if it is, most melee strikes are one-shot kill.
Mission 22: Space Mechanic
Deliver 9 Toolkits
Toolkits spawn nearly everywhere but have a higher chance of spawning in hidden stashes, locked containers, toolboxes, or in Vaults. You will need a hefty amount of Toolkits to complete this quest, so stock up if you find any lying around.
Mission 23: Hidden Stash
Discover the Hidden Stash
There are lots of Hidden Stashes in Marauders, but for this Zero to Hero quest, you need to find one specifically. In the Spaceport, there is a docking area where a Heavy Frigate is parked. Underneath it, at the end of the path, there are two shelves. Between the two empty shelves, you will find a Hidden Stash. Be warned. You need to interact with the space above the stash for three seconds, simply opening the stash isn’t enough to complete the quest.
Mission 24: Breach and Clear
Kill 25 Commandos with the Trench Gun
You can find Commando’s crawling all over the Capital Ships, which have a chance of spawning in any raid like Merchant Ships. As for the Trench Gun, you can find them in Vaults, military crates, and gun lockers.
Mission 25: Nuclear Warfare
Deliver Nuclear Material
Nuclear Material is extremely rare, and your best option for acquiring one is opening Vaults or Depots. If you ever encounter this item before you reach this Zero to Hero mission, you should save it. Otherwise, you’ll be back to looking around. Likewise, you may want to hold on to some just in case you feel like prestiging, which will reset your main questline.
Mission 26: Rising Tide
Kill 15 Marauders with a BAR Rifle
This is another straightforward Zero to Hero quest. All you have to do is kill 15 players with the BAR. However, the BAR is very expensive but can be crafted at level 30, and you can find the rifle in Vaults, military crates, and gun lockers.
Mission 27: Drug Dealer
Deliver 12 Methamphetamine
You can find Methamphetamine in red medical bags located in Spaceport’s medbay and the Asteroid Mine’s Foreman’s Office. We highly recommend storing Methamphetamine since you need to deliver 12 of them.
Mission 28: Weapon Check
Get 50 kills with the M1 Para Rifle in order to complete this Zero to Hero Marauders quest.
The M1A1 Para is very common to find, and higher-ranking NPCs typically carry them. Make sure you bring a lot of .32 ACP and stay at a medium range if you haven’t used the rifle before.
Mission 29: Shock Troops
Deliver 5 Mosin Obrez Pistols.
You can craft Mosin Obrezes, but you need gunpowder to make them. You can also find them nearly everywhere, but check Security Offices, Admins Offices, or military checkpoints.
Mission 30: The Butcher Returns
10 Marauder kills with a Machete
Like the previous challenge where we needed to get melee kills, we have to hack and slash once again, but with other players this time. Thankfully, at the time of writing this, shooting enemy players with a Machete equipped does progress the quest. We hope that this remains unchanged since melee killing other players would be extremely difficult.
Mission 31: Devil’s Intel
Deliver 3 U.A Intel Documents
U.A Intel is challenging to find since there are no reliable spawn locations. However, it can spawn in safes or Vaults, but your best bet is obtaining Intel from U.A Supply Drops. You can find U.A Supply Drops from Vaults, and rarely on shelves in locked-off areas.
Mission 32: Experimental Killer
Deliver 1 Gold Bullion
Another extremely rare drop. Gold Bullions don’t have any special spawn locations, but they can be found in Vaults, safes, and sometimes bodies of Miner NPCs.
Mission 33: Legend Grows
Get 25 Kills with the Heavy Thompson
As a reward from the previous mission, you are provided with one Heavy Thompson. Simply get 25 kills with this weapon, and the quest is complete. If you happen to lose the gun, you can find more in the large green military weapon crates at the Navy Outpost.
Mission 34: Life Saver
Deliver 3 Medical Crates
Medical Crates can be found in Vaults, medical wards, and military crates. They take up a lot of space and can be opened outside of Raid to get medical supplies. However, we recommend keeping three crates stashed away so you can prepare for this quest later down the line.
Mission 35: Command Control
Hold the Navy Outpost Tower for 5 Minutes
In the Navy Outpost, there is a tall structure outside the main open room that’s connected to the garage or the hanger. Despite the Zero to Hero quest saying you are looking for an Outpost Tower, you need to head to High Command. High Command is marked on all entrances, and it’s significantly easier to hold for 5 minutes compared to the Furnace.
Mission 36: Top Brass
Kill 10 Commando Majors
This is one of the most difficult Zero to Hero missions in Marauders. You must board the Capital Ship and eliminate ten Commando Majors. Commando Majors only spawn on Capital Ships, but they are not guaranteed. This NPC has a very low spawn chance, and you will rarely encounter 1-2 of them per Capital Ship. This quest takes a long time to complete despite its simple task.
Mission 37: Strong Apology.
Get 50 skills with the Heavy MG42.
As a reward for completing the last mission, you are given a Heavy MG42. Be ready to stock up on 7.62 ammo, and be careful not to lose this weapon. We highly recommend playing with friends for all Zero to Hero quests, but especially this one, since obtaining another Heavy MG42 can take an extreme amount of time. However, like most high-tier weapons, your best bet to get Heavy MG42’s are Vaults and giant military crates.
Mission 38: Ship Impoundment
Hold the Capital Engine Room for 10 minutes
Board a Capital Ship and hold the engine room for 10 minutes. Capital Ships have extremely tough NPCs, and other players are always looking to board their ship, we highly recommend coming well-equipped to have any hope of completing this Zero to Hero quest mission in Marauders.
Mission 39: Deserved Promotion
Deliver 8 Jewelry Boxes
This is another straightforward quest, and you’ve likely come across dozens of Jewelry Boxes by now. You can commonly find them in coin pouches found in Vaults, safes, and sometimes Security Offices. Simply turn in eight Jewelry Boxes, and this quest is complete.
Mission 40: Shining Star
Become Infamous
The final Zero to Hero quest in Marauders is to become infamous. Despite becoming infamous as the quest objective, the real objective is to get 100 kills with the flamethrower. You can find the LPO Flamethrower in Vaults, Supply Drops, and large military crates.
Wrap up on Completing all Zero to Hero Missions in Marauders
That’s our guide for every mission in the Zero to Hero questline for Marauders. The Zero to Hero quest line takes an extreme amount of time to complete, but it’s necessary for unlocking a lot of necessary items down the line. We hope that those who have gotten far into the questline won’t have progress wiped by the time Marauders officially releases.
It’s also worth noting that Prestiging does clear your progress on the Zero to Hero questline. Prestiging also resets your level, money, and inventory. If you are looking for more Marauders content, check out our Marauders beginners combat guide for all tips to get started on your adventures.
