The player count in Hunt Showdown has grown steadily, making it one of the most competitive and exciting FPS games to play at the moment!
The Number of Concurrent Players in Hunt: Showdown
In July of 2022, Crytek posted across all their social media platforms about Hunt: Showdown’s record-breaking Peak Concurrent Player Count of 38,802. The recent spike in popularity has likely originated from the Serpent Moon event that started in July.
The Peak Concurrent Player Count has since dropped from 38,802 to 33,508 in under a month. However, the Average Player Count has increased by roughly 5,000, totaling around 17,900+ players in January of 2023. This recent player count has bumped Hunt: Showdown into the current Top 50 Games on Steam Charts.

Before the Serpent Moon Event, we also had the Traitor’s Moon back in March (2022) through April (2022). Before the Traitor’s Moon, we also had the Winter Solstice event in December (2021) through January (2022) and The Harvest event at the end of October (2021.)

How Active is the Community?
If you also like to judge how active a game is based on the buzz in its community, you won’t be disappointed in fellow Hunters. On the Offical Hunt: Showdown Discord, there are currently over 173,300+ members. There are also several popular Hunt: Showdown community discords like Council and popular Streamer discords like Rachta Z’s Discord server.
Hunt: Showdown’s community isn’t as big as other games like Valorant or Call of Duty, but smaller communities can offer a breath of fresh air compared to the chaotic nature of bigger communities.
How Fast is Matchmaking?
Another question you may ask is how long you have to wait to find a game in Hunt: Showdown. If you are new or looking to get into Hunt: Showdown, there are a few factors for the different queue times. Quickplay is a solo-only game mode, and Bounty Hunt is typically played in two or three squads.
Hunt: Showdown also has a matchmaking rating displayed under your name on the main menu, ranging from one to six stars. Depending on your matchmaking rating, you can experience rapid queue times or upwards of 2 minutes to find a match.
Most of the community sits between three to four stars, so unless you plan to become extremely good at Hunt: Showdown, whether you are playing solo or with your friends, you should get into games relatively quickly. Of course, if you are a one-star and your friend is a five-star, there might be extra time between matches to balance things out. However, time flies when waiting with friends!

Predictions for the Future of Hunt Showdown’s Player Count
If Hunt: Showdown continues this upward trend of growing its player count through in-game events, players will have more reason to return to the game. The developers’ approach to events fits nicely into the core gameplay without disrupting regular matches. All ways to obtain event points or rewards during an event are presented more as a passive gain or a secondary objective.
Our guide on the Serpent Moon showcases many of these elements. Most of the ways players earn points are non-intrusive to the standard gameplay. If Crytek sticks to these usual ways to obtain points during events while finding new ways to make each one feel unique, we can expect Hunt: Showdown to skyrocket in popularity within the next few years.
The fact that Hunt: Showdown has broken into the bottom of the Top 50 Games on Steam Chart showcases its potential for growth.
