Hunt: Showdown hunters can employ many unconventional tactics and strategies to overcome other players. But what about the main objective here? The bounties.
Hunt’s developers have managed to create four different bosses that are each terrifying enough to spawn nightmares. The Hunt Showdown bosses you may fight include The Butcher, Spider, The Assassin, and the most recent addition, Scrapbeak. They all have their charms, attacks, weakness, and strengths. This article will cover the best way to deal with all of them effectively while saving resources.
What Every Player Should know Before Fighting a Boss in Hunt Showdown
First, let’s cover some essential tips and tactics that are viable in almost any situation while fighting a boss in Hunt: Showdown.
1. Stamina Shots are Very Useful to Keep Pace with Hunt’s Bosses
This consumable can be game-changing when fighting a boss. Consuming one of them can give you a significant advantage and help you kill a boss quicker. You don’t want to run out of stamina and be left slowed while trying to reposition yourself mid-fight.
2. Keep Track of the Locations of Lanterns and Barrels
Lanterns inside a boss lair can be your worst enemy. If you are standing next to one while the boss is enraged and attacking, you will likely have it splashed all over you and probably lose a health bar or two.
Our tip is to either step away or turn them off as soon as possible. Remember that you can use lanterns against the boss to burn them with a well-timed shot/throw.
It works the same way for barrels inside the boss’s lair in Hunt Showdown. Avoid them or use them smartly. If you don’t care about alerting other hunters of your location, blow them up from the outside to avoid any unanticipated problems during your fight.
3. Keep your Attacks Safe, and Don’t Place Yourself in Unnecessary Danger
Especially if you don’t have a stamina shot, the safest pattern to use against a boss in Hunt Showdown is two heavy attacks, retreat to recover stamina, and wait while the boss’s rage stops.
4. Enraged Bosses are Very Dangerous in Hunt Showdown
Every boss will produce a loud and specific noise and go into an enraged state after receiving a couple of hits. In our experience, this is usually two heavy attacks. While in this state, every boss will deal more severe damage to the player and receive less when attacked. Our recommendation is to wait outside the boss’s lair for a few seconds when this happens.
5. Do Not Stand Still while You Wait to Reengage the Boss
While recovering your stamina or waiting for a boss’s enraged state to be over, do not stand still outside the lair. If you stand still, you will likely get sniped by an enemy hunter.
The best thing to do after you find a boss and a melee weapon is to decide which entrance to the lair will offer you the best cover if you get pushed by an enemy team.
6. Consider Grabbing the Vigor Trait
This great hunter trait helps you recover health and stamina quicker while using dark sight. The Vigor trait is excellent if you don’t have a stamina shot but happen to have this upgrade.
7. Be Aware of Other Hunters
Other hunters have nothing to lose and everything to give to escape with the bounty. Check your dark sight to make sure the boss icon on the top left is not blinking red. Yet, don’t just rely on dark sight. Hunt is a game where you want to rely on your ears. Be paranoid of every noise you hear.
8. Be Decisive. Be Lethal. And Have a Plan to Kill Everyone in the Room.
An inexperienced or careless hunter will just rush to the boss’s lair to get their bounty quickly and easily. Yet, they will most likely end up facing other more intelligent hunters who have a plan to take them out and steal the bounty. Don’t just do the hard work of killing the boss in each Hunt Showdown game. Make sure you have a plan to keep the prize too.
Before starting the fight against any boss in Hunt Showdown, coordinate with your team to do security on a specific location and have cover to run to if other hunters attack you. This is one of the reasons why it’s best to play Hunt: Showdown with friends instead of solo.
The Best Weapons to Use to Finish Off Bosses Quickly in Hunt Showdown
9. Veterelli and Fire Ammo Is Great Against Bosses
This combination can be extremely effective against most bosses, except for The Butcher. Keep in mind that this loadout it’s not recommended for PVP.
10. You Can use Big Dynamite Bundles for Quick Get-Aways
This explosive will one-hit every boss if landed and timed correctly. Be aware that this can be very loud and heard by enemy hunters. It’s best to use these only if you don’t plan to stick around and can make it to a safe zone quickly.
11. Sticky Bombs, if Thrown Well, Can be Very Effective
A well-placed sticky bomb to the face will take away most of the health bar for the boss in Hunt Showdown. Keep in mind that this might not be as effective against the assassin.
12. Poison Is Also a Powerful Weapon Against the Bosses in Hunt: Showdown
A poisoned bolt or grenade can quickly kill a boss, especially The Butcher or The Assassin. However, poison is not at all effective against the terrifying Spider boss.
13. Bomb Lance
A bomb lance explosion can kill a boss in less than a minute and can also be used as a deadly weapon in close-quarters combat but will put you at a disadvantage in long-range fights.
14. Penny Shot Ammo is the Best Shotgun Ammo against Bosses
Penny shot has the best RNG for shotguns, making them a suitable ammo type against any boss in Hunt.
These are general recommendations that will significantly help you improve and plan your path to hunt, banish and extract with the bounty. But, what about how to deal with every boss? Next, we will cover the best way to deal with them.
How to Deal with the Every Boss in Hunt: Showdown
Hunt Showdown is very underrated. One of the best features of Hunt Showdown is its bosses. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. The remainder of our guide will be dedicated to tips and tactics to defeat each of them.
The Butcher
A fan favorite and classic boss of this article. This monstrous beast with a pig head will haunt your thoughts. The Butcher boss from Hunt Showdown will charge you with powerful attacks and set you up on fire. The Butcher can be one of the most annoying and hard bosses to fight. Yet, you can crush The Butcher as easily as a cockroach with the following tips.
15. The Butcher’s Enraged State
After two heavy attacks, The Butcher will do a loud scream and charge very fast at you with powerful attacks that will potentially burn your health bars, make sure you have an escape plan for when this happens.
16. Choke Bombs Can Save Your Team
To prevent The Butcher boss in Hunt: Showdown from setting everyone on fire and causing you to lose health bars from fire, smash him with a choke bomb to stop the flames on his weapon before the boss fight begins.
17. DO NOT Try to Kill the Butcher with Fire
Fire works well against almost every boss except for The Butcher. Throwing any flammable item at him will do no damage. Yet, you will set him on fire. Setting him alight will give him the possibility of causing burning damage to you.
18. Backstab the Butcher if You Can Get Behind Him
This one requires a decent amount of practice and patience before you master it. When you do this strategy, it will be your best ally when fighting the Butcher. The trick is to stay behind him, even while enraged, and keep hitting him with an ax or a hammer. For this strategy, a stamina shot is necessary.
How to Crush the Very Creepy Spider Boss in Hunt: Showdown
The Spider has a human face and eight human legs. If this won’t give you nightmares, we don’t know what will! This Hunt Showdown boss tends to move fast through the walls and ceiling and rush at you when attacking.
This enemy, when enraged, will do a scream and raise its front legs. It can cause poison damage and even knock you on your back when charging at you.
19. Kill It with Fire!
Like in real life, this spider hates fire, so successfully landing firebombs and lanterns can kill it quickly. Be careful with the fire you use to kill it. Don’t accidentally burn yourself or the whole lair in the process.
20. Don’t Let It Poison You
An antidote shot can be great against The Spider and incredibly reduce the damage received by it when getting attacked.
How to Take Out the Assassin Boss
The Assassin has to be the boss with the scariest sound design. It will charge at you with a demonic laugh before fading away through a thousand insects. For this boss, you will require a lot of patience as it will move quickly through the map, timing its attacks.
21. Smash Him with a Hammer
The hammer has proven to be the most effective tool in Hunt Showdown for this boss. Yet, keep in mind that wielding a hammer drains more stamina than other melee weapons.
22. I Used to Be a Good Assassin until I Got an Arrow to the Knee
A hand crossbow, regular crossbow, or bow with poison arrows or bolts can kill the assassin in a few hits. The hardest part of this strategy is successfully timing and aiming your shots against this fast-moving target.
23. Cheating without Really Cheating
This one takes time to master, but you can stuck-look him when enraging and spam it with heavy melee attacks with an ax or a hammer. A stamina shot is necessary for this plan to work.
The Newest Boss in Hunt: Showdown – Scrapbeak
It’s safe to say that this is the most annoying and most challenging boss in Hunt Showdown. He will cause bleeding damage with either a melee light or heavy attack or by throwing concertina bombs at you. Not only this, but Scrapbeak will grab ANY single item in the zone, so forget about refilling your ammo or finding an object to fight him. Keep in mind that he will drop the items attached to his body every once in a while.
24. Yeah, Use that Sticky Bomb, but Suffer the Consequences
As we mentioned before, the sticky bomb can be one of the most effective consumables against bosses in Hunt: Showdown, and it is very effective against Scrapbeak. But be aware that blowing a sticky bomb on his face will cause every item he drops to be burned, making them completely useless.
25. A Pitchfork? Really!?
Yes, the pitchfork is the most effective melee tool against Scrapbeak, as he is weak to piercing damage.
26. Use Poison to Help Defeat the Scrapbeak Boss in Hunt Showdown
We have already established that poison can be very effective against most bosses, but what if I told you that you could use it in a better way against Scrapbeak? Scrapbeak’s movement patterns can be very predictable. This is especially true when it is enraged. Thus, we recommend leaving poison clouds around the lair and making him run through them when chasing you.
27. Come Prepared to Defeat the Scrapbeak
As mentioned before, there are absolutely zero items, consumables, and tools in a Scrapbeak location. So, the best thing to do is to grab a melee weapon as soon as you have 2 or 3 clues.
Do what You are Here for…Hunt.
We hope that your effectiveness and readiness will improve with these tips while fighting a boss in Hunt Showdown or dealing with other hunters looking to steal your bounty. Do not forget that practicing and dying are fundamental for the strict learning curve of this game. Good luck and good hunt!
