Player-made game economies are always interesting and often fun to partake in for some, such as World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV’s trading economy. The Trader’s Guild is a cornerstone of Dark and Darker’s late-game economy. The Trader’s Guild allows players to sell their valuable weapons and armor to other players, giving gold and items a player-controlled price.
Here is a short guide to get you up to speed on how to trade in Dark and Darker and what items you should look for to sell at the highest price.
How to Trade in Dark and Darker
Instead of selling your items to merchants or travelers for low gold, you can trade your valuable items in the Trader’s Guild with other players. But before you are allowed to do so, you must meet a few straightforward requirements from the Trade Master.
The requirements are the following:
- Your character must be at least level:5
- You must pay an initiation fee of 25 Gold
- Each exchange will cost 15 Gold
Trading Items with Other Players in Dark and Darker
Once you become a trader, you can sell and trade items in the Trader’s Guild. When you enter the Trader’s Guild, you will see a Channel List categorizing items by different Classes. If you have some heavy armor that is only usable in your Fighter build or Cleric loadout, go into their respective channel to sell those items.
After opening a trade channel in Dark and Darker, use the drop-down menus in the upper left corner to select the item you’re looking for. If you find something you want to buy, right-click the seller and choose “Trade Request.” Usually, the post will include the amount of gold they want for the item, so make sure it’s within your price range before sending a trade request.
If the trade request is accepted, the seller will add the item to the trading window in the center of the screen, while the person buying will add the requested gold. If both parties are satisfied, they need to click the ‘Accept’ button; otherwise, click the ‘Cancel Trade’ button.

How to Judge the Value of an Item
Throughout the several beta tests, players have begun to set a loose standard of what items are worth based on their rarity and additional stats. None of these values are set in stone; many players will bargain for more or less depending on the item, so an item’s value will ultimately come down to both parties’ judgments.
Here is a list of all stats that will sell for a high price when you trade in Dark and Darker:
- All Attributes: Increases all stats of your character.
- True Damage: Damage that bypasses all armor and physical damage reductions.
- Agility: Increases Base Move Speed, Action/Attack Speed, and Equip/Interaction Speed.
- Physical Power: Increases your damage with physical weapons
- Strength: Increases base health and physical damage bonus.
- Weapon damage: Increases weapon damage.
- Magical Power: Increase your overall spell power.
- Knowledge: Increases spell casting speed +Spell Count + Item Identification Speed
- Spell Capacity Bonus: Determines how many or the level of spells you can memorize and take into the game.
- Will: Increases Spell Power, Increases Buff/Curse Duration, and Increases your Magic Resistance.
Note that not all Dark and Darker classes will want the exact stats on their weapons or armor; for example, Wizards will want Magical Power, Knowledge, and Will on their gear, while Barbarians want True Damage, Agility, Strength, and Physical Power. However, all classes want All Attributes; thus making this stat the most essential and valued enhancement in Dark and Darker.
Can you Trade with Your Other Characters?
Sadly, you cannot trade directly between your characters in Dark and Darker. However, there is a small workaround to trade with your other characters in Darkand Darker. This small workaround involves trading your desired items to a friend, then having that friend trade the items back to another character.
Yet, this workaround requires having a trustworthy friend, a level 5 character, and a small amount of Gold to spare for the trading cost.
