If you are looking for a weapon balanced between damage, fire rate, and dexterity, you are in the right place. Here, we will cover our recommended loadout, including guns and tools, for success in your mid-range battles in Hunt: Showdown.

We cover everything, from guns that give you more room for mistakes, to guns that allow you to spam an enemy with bullets constantly! Keep in mind, we still highly encourage accuracy and precision. Despite the fun, mindless spamming will get you killed in Hunt: Showdown, especially in higher ranks.

We also recommend you check out our other articles where we cover some more general tips to excel as a hunter and some tricks that will save your life.

Best Rifles for a Medium-Range Loadout in Hunt: Showdown

When using Medium-Range guns, you have to be a little pickier with your distance before you start a gunfight with an enemy hunter. The reason: the average range for a Medium-Range gun is between 95-200 meters. Anything above this, and you will have a damage drop-off.

One of the main advantages of Medium-Range weapons is that you can put up following shots quicker and rely more on body shots. This strategy circumvents the need to lead with a perfect headshot.

    Stay Alive

Keep in mind, if you are engaging an enemy at Medium-Range, and they have a Long-Range gun, they can do a lot more damage in one shot than you can. Don’t just stand there! Don’t pick the same angle twice. Shoot and move, flank them, and make them run out of their cover.

In Hunt: Showdown, players can unlock different ammo types for their guns

    Winfield M1876 Centennial

This gun is a powerful repeating rifle that holds up to 9 rounds and does a decent amount of damage. It strikes with 123 at a range of 180m with a muzzle velocity of 600 meters per second. Throw Full Metal Jacket Ammo in it, and your range will increase to 218. The drawback: it reduces the muzzle velocity to 480 meters per second.

With or without Full Metal Jacket  Ammo, you can rely on this rifle as it has amazing Iron Sights. It’s excellent for striking the heads of enemy hunters at Medium-Range. If you combine this with Levering, you will have a way to deal with Close-Range engagements in your loadout, as you will be able to quickly spam shots without aiming in Hunt Showdown.

    Winfield M1876 Centennial Sniper

The Winfield M1876 Centennial has a sniper variant that makes it a good option for Mid- to Long-Range fights. To unlock the sniper variant, you must reach rank 64. It maintains the same stats as the default version of this rifle, but the scope will definitely give you better accuracy at greater distances.

    Caldwell Conversion Uppercut

This is a modified single-action revolver that ‘’kicks like a mule,’’ and for good reason! This beauty of a revolver fires long ammo dealing 130 damage, higher than any other sidearm at a range of 96m. The best part: the Uppercut fits a small slot, meaning that you can carry it with any other gun you wish.

    Fans Love It

You can definitely treat it as your main gun due to its high stats. In certain areas, it even beats out some Mid-Range rifles. The Uppercut is a Hunt Showdown fan favorite due to the different uses you can give it in your loadout and its effectiveness in mid- to long-range fights.

There are only two downsides. First, while this revolver carries 6 bullets, it has a reload speed of 15 seconds, which is on the slow side. Second, its price is 275 Hunt Dollars. This might not seem like a lot, but in-game, that’s a steep price!

How to Maximize the Caldwell Conversion Uppercut

The perfect way to use the Caldwell Conversion Uppercut is to carry it with a shotgun as your secondary weapon. In this way, you cover all your bases: the Uppercut will cover Mid- to Long-Range combat, and a shotgun with slugs will cover short-range combat.

You can’t go wrong with this loadout in Hunt: Showdown, as it will make you ready for almost any situation. There is one exception: Ultralong-Range fights. That kind of duck hunt tends to be a waste of ammo anyway!

    Springfield 1886 Marksman

The Springfield is a gun that we don’t usually recommend, as it has horrible iron sights, and it’s about as reliable as paper boots. However, the Marksman version of it is decent. The reason why the Springfield 1886 Marksman made it to this list is for one very specific reason: DumDum ammo.

This is a Marksman rifle that does 132 damage at an effective range of 203m with a muzzle velocity of 490 meters per second. Add DumDum ammo, and the 132 damage is compounded with a demoralizing bleeding effect. If this doesn’t terrify a player on the wrong side of your scope, I don’t know what will!

    Hunting as a Pack

This Hunt Showdown loadout is very effective in trios and duos, as you can tag enemies for your teammates to finish off. As a hunter has 150 health points in total, landing a shot on an enemy less than 212m away with this build will leave them with only 18 health points. These 18 health points quickly drain away–the enemy will die in seconds if they don’t stop the bleeding! This gives you and your team an amazing advantage.

    Her Ugly Twin

The Springfield 1886 Compact Deadeye serves a similar purpose, but it is not as effective as the Springfield 1886 Marksman. The Compact Deadeye has horrible aiming sway and slightly lower statistics. The only advantage is the quick reload due to the breach load. If you can go for the regular marksman variant, do so!

    Nagant M1895 Officer Carbine

This double-action revolver is one of the closest things you can get to a submachine gun in Hunt: Showdown. This mod is basically a Nagant M1895 Officer with a stock and a modified long barrel that provides higher damage than the regular Officer 104 damage and a higher effective range of 92.

It also provides incredible handling of 89%, due to its low recoil, low aiming sway, and a slightly better muzzle velocity of 360 meters per second. We strongly recommend this revolver be used in any medium-range loadout by Hunt Showdown players.

    A Versatile Killing Machine

Due to the Nagant M1895 Officer Carbine’s high accuracy and stability, it is not necessary to spam shots, as you can rely on this revolver to land headshots. However, after a failed sniping attempt, this is the best gun for following shots. The Nagant M1895 Officer Carbine can continuously spam an enemy until they go down.

    A Twist with Lime

There is a Nagant M1895 Officer Carbine Deadeye variant of this revolver. The only difference is the handling of 84% and a telescopic sight, turning the revolver into an unconventional rapid-fire sniper rifle. Is it better than the original build? That is really up to your personal playstyle, as both builds are deadly, accurate, and fast.

Sidearms to Complement Your Loadout in Hunt: Showdown

Here we will cover some of our favorite sidearms that will help you to engage at Close-Range. Most medium range rifles are good at close range, but if you are looking for greater maneuverability in close quarters, switching to your sidearm is a good idea,

Firing Down Crosshairs in Hunt Showdown
The Nagant M1895 Officer Carbine is a great option for Medium to Short Range gunfights

    Nagant M1895 Officer Brawler

You might have already realized that we have an obsession with this gun, due to its high accuracy, fire rate, and bullet capacity. This sidearm beautifully fits any loadout you are running.

    LeMat II Revolver

Unfortunately, there is a bug making the LeMatt II Revolver a one-shot weapon at any distance, so at the time of writing, we do not recommend using it. We do not support cheating or exploiting. Crytek has already stated that hunters abusing this exploit are being tracked and banned!

In any case, before the bug, the LeMat II was a decent revolver with nothing special if you use it for what it is. Its charm comes when you add slugs as its secondary fire. This creates an emergency weapon for extremely Close-Range engagements.

    Caldwell Pax

The Caldwell Pax is a medium ammo revolver with an effective range of only 86m, but with incredible damage of 110. Use it patiently, as it has a low fire rate of 46 rounds per minute.

    Scottfield Model 3 Spitfire

This gun is similar to the Caldwell Pax. It has very similar damage and range to the Pax at 107 per shot, with an effective range of 85 meters. However, it shines on the rounds per minute. Some even accuse this gun of being too fast!

Best Traits for Medium-Range Loadouts in Hunt: Showdown

How can players improve the effectiveness of the guns listed above? Here are some of the perks Hunt: Showdown has to offer.

    Iron Repeater

‘’Remain in iron sights after firing a shot while using lever-action rifles. (Applies to all scope-less Winfield lever-action variants, including shotguns).’’

This perk is useful for the Winfield M1876 Centennial, as it increases the accuracy of follow-up shots when the player is aiming down the sights.

    Levering

‘’Faster rate of fire from the hip when using lever-action weapons. (Applies to all Winfield lever-action variants, including shotguns).’’

As the description suggests, Levering allows you to quickly fire when using Winfield M1876 Centennial and its sniper variant. This is a good option if you get pushed by an enemy hunter!

Steady Aim to Make the Most of Your Medium-Range Loadout in Hunt Showdown

‘’Weapon sway gradually lessens when you’re looking through the scope of a rifle.

(Applies to any 3-slot rifle with a scope or aperture sight).’’

Beware! This trait won’t work with the Springfield 1886 Compact Deadeye, as it is a 2-slot weapon.

    Steady Hand

‘’Weapon sway gradually lessens when you’re looking through the scope of a pistol or a stock-less weapon. (Applies to 2-slot weapons with a scope).’’

This trait works with the Springfield 1886 Compact Deadeye, pairing its quick reload with the accuracy of a cold-blooded executioner.

    Marksman Scopesmith

‘’Remain in scope view after firing a shot while using any weapon with a medium scope (Marksman variants).’’

Of our chosen medium-range loadouts in Hunt Showdown, this perk will work only with the Springfield 1886 Marksman. It will allow you to reload your weapon without having to look away from the scope.

    Quartermaster

‘’Can equip a medium slot weapon in addition to a large slot weapon.’’

To best exploit this perk, equip a compact shotgun as your secondary. Loaded with Slugs, our two favorites for this slot are Romero 77 Handcannon and the Specter 1882 Compact.

Best Tools and Consumables to Use with a Medium-Range Loadout in Hunt: Showdown

When it comes to tools and consumables, choose the aids that will maximize your personal play style. Here are some of our favorites!

    Tools

    Knuckle Knife

With a price of 15 Hunt Dollars, we consider the Knuckle Knife to be the most effective tool. It can deal blunt and piercing damage to quickly put down any Grunt who comes too close!

    Fusees

You read that right–fuses with two e’s. Fusees are a pack of three handheld railroad flares used in signaling. The Fusees have really only one useful purpose for us, which is to kill Armored Grunt monsters in Hunt Showdown. Throwing one Fusee at a grunt will quickly kill him, without wasting your stamina.

Consumables to Add to Your Medium-Range Loadout in Hunt Showdown

    Vitality Shot

Coffee isn’t cutting it? A Vitality Shot will replenish all your health instantly!

    Fire Bomb

This may be a “consumable,” but don’t eat it! Fire bombs are great for burning down enemy hunters and drawing other players out from their cover.

Our Conclusion for Medium-Range Loadouts in Hunt: Showdown

Medium-Range Loadouts in Hunt Showdown will allow you to place more bullets per minute on an enemy, but to use these loadouts effectively, you can’t just button mash. Gunfights still need to be calculated, and your actions must be intentional. If you are firing just for the sake of it, a smarter player will outgun you in a matter of seconds.

Keep practicing, not only to increase your technical skill but also to find the best guns and build your favorite loadouts! For more great insights, check out our Hunt Showdown beginners guide! It’s a comprehensive guide with tips and tricks for both new players and veterans alike.

As always, good luck and good hunting!
