There has been quite some unrest related to the ranks in Halo Infinite since last month. As part of a new update to ranked matching, 343 Industries announced that they would reset the player ranks in Halo Infinite. According to the developers, the mid-season rank reset saw the players drop by one rank to balance out an overly rewarding system.

Unyshek, the community manager for 343 studios, explained the system in a new post on Halo Waypoint. These modifications were implemented to bring the system closer to where the player skills would reflect their ranks.

We will take an in-depth look at the ranks in Halo Infinite and discuss what’s happening in the future to tie things up.

What is the competitive mode in Halo Infinite?

The competitive mode in Halo Infinite is called Ranked Arena. This mode allows users to compete against one another under the same conditions and on the same maps with which the Halo professional players introduced the game. Slayer, Capture the Flag, Oddball, and Strongholds are among the four-vs-four team-based game modes in Halo Infinite ranked play. You may join a squad or play solo.

Slayer Mode: Halo Infinite’s traditional death match gameplay is featured in Slayer mode. There are two four-person teams that compete against each other. The first team that accumulates 50 victories in the allotted time wins the Slayer match in Halo Infinite.

Capture The Flag: The mode’s primary goal is to take the flag and transport it back to the player’s base. The player’s team receives points, and the team with the most points wins the match.

Oddball: In Oddball, participants must retain a luminous skull orb in their hands. The main goal is to maintain possession of the ball (the glowing skull) for a total of 100 points in each round.

Strongholds: In order to win a Strongholds game, your team must earn 250 points before the other team. On each map, there are three Strongholds (or zones) labeled A, B, and C. If your team controls two of the three zones, you’ll get one point each second for as long as you keep the zones under your control. You’ll earn 2 points each second if your team controls all three zones simultaneously.

What are the main ranks in Halo Infinite?

There are 31 Ranks in Halo Infinite Ranked Arena for you to climb. The top tier stands alone, while the other five are divided into six sub-divisions. After playing ten matches in Ranked Arena, you will be assigned your first Competitive Skill Rank, determining your position in the ranking system. Diamond 5 is the highest rank one can attain during these provisional games. We can see a breakdown of all the ranks below.

    • Bronze: I-VI (Ranks 1-6)
    • Silver: I-VI (Ranks 7-12)
    • Gold: I-VI (Ranks 13-18)
    • Platinum: I-VI (Ranks 19-24)
    • Diamond: I-VI (Ranks 25-30)
    • Onyx (Rank 31)

If you have previously played League of Legends, these names would seem familiar to you. However, the most significant difference is that instead of 1 being the highest rank of the tiers, it is 6. In League of Legends, Gold 1 would have been the highest rank in the Gold tier; however, in Halo Infinite, it is the lowest you can be in the Gold tier.

When you start playing Ranked Arena, you’ll be matched with players from the same tier as you, so newcomers on the Bronze tiers won’t be matched against high-elo players from Onyx or Diamond. Though, if reaching Onyx is your goal, we do have some good tips for you to consider that will help you get to Onyx rank in Halo Infinite.

How to improve your rank in Halo Infinite?

There is no easy explanation, and it would require us hours and hours to properly guide you through the process of climbing ranks in Halo Infinite. However, we would still like you to help out with a few essential tips that can help you improve immediately.

The first tip that will help you improve is playing from the high ground. The elevation advantage is immense in Halo Infinite. You will always be able to get more kills consistently if you manage to find a position where enemies can’t get to you. You always want to increase your KDA in Halo Infinite. (Even if KDA is calculated a bit weirdly in the game.)

The second tip is to stop ego peeking. We get that fantastic feeling when climbing, and everyone is worse than us. Still, there will eventually come a time when better players start coming into our ranked arena matches. That’s when this overconfidence will start costing us games. It is better to set the foundations right from the very first day to avoid running into problems like this later on.

The last piece of advice from our side is to play as many bot games as you can so you get familiar with Halo Infinite mechanics, primarily how the grapple hook works.

    How often do ranks reset?

Ranks are reset at the end of each season, and they may also be reset mid-season. This occurred midway through Season 1 as part of a mid-season update. That altered how skill ratings were measured and distributed.

There are no plans for any changes to this cycle. As a result, don’t be hesitant to put in the time to attain the rank you know you deserve and can get!

    Conclusion

We hope this article has given you a better understanding of Halo Infinite’s Ranked Arena and its rank system. It’s obviously very important to understand for any players looking to climb into the competitive Halo eSports realm. Enjoy playing with the Halo Infinite ranking system by climbing the ranks with ranked matches!
