Certain weapons in the Halo series have become staples. Removing these is certainly to have fans a little upset. They might be replaced by a gun that has the same properties but offers a different type of flavor. A lot of players love most of the weapons from Halo 2 because of how balanced they are. Some were cool and had a more exciting design than the other guns. This is likely why the Sentinel Beam is back in Halo Infinite.
The Sentinel Beam first appeared in the first Halo game, but it wasn’t usable. Players could have their hands on it for the first time in Halo 2. It has been in most Halo games ever since. The Sentinel Beam shoots out a continuous beam or laser that damages the enemy. While the damage has been adjusted each game it has been in; the weapon has always been one of the better ones.
This weapon was one of the first Forerunner weapons introduced in the Halo games. Let’s dive into some general information and tips for the Sentinel Beam.
Sentinel Beam General Information
- Weapon Type: Beam
- Manufacturer: Forerunner
- Ammunition Type: Hardlight
- Magazine Size: 250
- Rate of Fire: Automatic
- Time To Kill (Multiplayer): 75+ Energy
The Sentinel Beam is of Forerunner origin. It fires a continuous beam of hardlight at the target that can also pierce through enemies. This is one of the more unique damage types in Halo Infinite. This weapon first appeared in Halo 1, used by the flying drones on certain levels. The Sentinel Beam’s magazine currently holds 250 energy before it has to be reloaded. This will drain extremely fast.
Players will die after around 75 or so energy is used. Or approximately 2 seconds. Like most weapons in Halo Infinite, it does extra headshot damage to unshielded opponents. But a quick burst of this weapon will disintegrate an opponent almost instantly.
Best Maps To Use the Sentinel Beam On in Halo Infinite
The Sentinel Beam can be found on a variety of Halo Infinite maps. The Sentinel Beam is extremely accurate but does have high recoil. The best maps to use this weapon are ones with open spaces. However, you want maps to have combat that isn’t at long distances. 4v4 maps usually work best for this.
Bazaar
The Sentinel Beam is located in front of the giant gates on the wall leading out of the team spawn. This map is great for the Sentinel Beam due to having open spaces and narrow walkways. Since many battles will occur at close and medium ranges, you are more likely to hit opponents with a constant beam.
Streets
Found on the wall after the first flight of stairs near the arcade area. Streets is probably the perfect map for this weapon due to the narrow streets and alleyways. When a player is found on the side skirts of the map, it is hard to escape. Battles are also fought in close proximity. So unless you run into someone with a Bulldog shotgun, you will likely have the upper hand.
Launch Site
Launch Site is a pretty big map, but it is usually played with the game mode 1-Flag Capture The Flag. Since you or your opponent has to make their way to the flag, the Sentinel Beam is perfect for this map. You will have a lot of medium-range firefights and the opportunity to destroy vehicles.

Tips and Tricks to Using the Sentinel Beam in Halo Infinite
The Sentinel Beam isn’t hard to learn in Halo Infinite, but it is hard to control. For the most part, the Sentinel Beam is just an aim-and-shoot weapon. If the crosshair is on the opponent, then you will be doing damage. You might hit one of their teammates as well. There are some small tips to know that are helpful and might become useful in the heat of battle.
Reloads In 50 Energy Intervals
The Sentinel Beam in Halo Infinite has a total of 250 energy. This might sound like a lot, but it will burn through this in a matter of seconds. However, once you start the reload animation, every second or so will add 50 energy to the gun. This is important because you can cancel the reload animation anytime to continue firing from that point.
The Sentinel Beam Has Extremely High Recoil in Halo Infinite
The Sentinel Beam weapon has the highest amount of recoil in Halo Infinite. Constantly firing it will cause it to move up. And it is a significant jump. To help compensate for the recoil, try to hold the analog stick (or mouse) down slightly to stay in place.
Pierces Through Opponents
Like most hardlight weapons, the Sentinel Beam can pierce through opponents. While it isn’t always consistent, it can help in team fights. You might hit an unshielded opponent through the person you were aiming at, nabbing yourself a kill or double kill.
The Sentinel Beam has a Limited Range in Halo Infinite
It is hard to notice while wielding the weapon, but it has a limited amount of range. From other angles, you will see that it will just stop. It looks a little weird, honestly. The range is somewhat similar to the assault rifle in Halo Infinite for comparison.

Great Against Light Vehicles
This weapon is great at doing damage to light vehicles. It is also much easier to hit a bigger target like a Ghost or Mongoose. The Sentinel Beam will cause big damage to the Wasp as well, but be sure that it is in range.
Conclusion
Honestly, Halo Infinite players can’t go wrong with picking up the Sentinel Beam. It kills faster than most weapons and it can even shoot through opponents, allowing you to damage multiple people. However, it has very high vertical recoil to counter how strong this weapon is. This can take some time to get used to, along with trying to hit a moving target.
Although beaming down your enemy without missing will kill faster than a Battle Rifle, Assault Rifle, or Stalker Rifle in Halo Infinite. Achieving this is easier said than done. It is best to use this weapon at close and medium range to ensure your accuracy is at its best.
