Setting up 

1. Enable the developer console in the game’s settings.

2. Load up an offline game. You can do this directly via the console (press the ~ key by default to drop down the console), then by typing “map” followed by the map name. For example, to play on the map, Mirage, you would type “map de_mirage casual”.
3. Enable cheats by typing in “sv_cheats 1” into the console.
4. Type in “mp_drop_knife_enable 1.” This command will allow you to drop your default knife.

There is one noticeable flaw when using this approach. Knife commands in CSGO only spawn the blade; they don’t put it into your hands. To retrieve it, enter the following into the console:

ent_fire weapon_knife addoutput “classname weapon_knifegg”

This command must be repeated every time you spawn a new knife.

Alternative Methods to View Different Knife Skins in CSGO

Apart from the aforementioned method of using knife commands in CSGO to view different skins, there are also a few other ways you can try out knives in-game before investing money to own one. There are custom community maps with point systems or other means for you to purchase/own knives in their own little eco-system for absolutely no additional cash. However, the most common alternative to inspecting knife skins is to use a third-party CSGO skin screenshot and inspect site/service.

Out there, one of the most famous ones is CSGO Skins’ live inspection option, which can be accessed here. It allows you to open up the game and load into their custom server with your desired knife skin, right there on the site. While this method is pretty convenient as it doesn’t require you to type in any commands, the experience might get a little annoying. 

The major caveat to this method is there is a high chance that you will spawn without any skins but the default kit. If this occurs, you must spawn in one after dropping your default knife using the aforementioned commands. But using this method, you can spawn in pretty much any weapon skin listed on their site. This is great, but it requires you to use a 3rd party, unlike our list of CSGO knife commands, which work in-game.

The other, more reliable method is to use a CSGO skin inspection service such as BroSkins. You can generate a custom chat command for any weapon with this site’s screenshot service and then enter it on their custom map to spawn in your desired weapon skin, including knives. The best part about this method is you can experiment with the command you generate by changing up values to alter its pattern and float.
