Since the release of the original Halo back in 2001, only a few weapons have become a staple and seen little to no changes. With the Halo series being a little over 20 years old, we have seen many new weapons, and some have swapped out older weapons in recent games. However, the S7 Sniper has remained the same throughout every Halo game, including Halo Infinite. Technically, with some new entries in the series, the sniper gets an updated model and name, but it is virtually the same as it has always been.

And rightfully so, the S7 Sniper is a staple in the franchise; changing this weapon in any way will surely outrage Halo fans. Also, changing this weapon even a little will make it either too strong or too weak to be considered a power weapon. The S7 Sniper has always been in the perfect spot for gameplay balance. It is almost the ideal weapon. Moreover, you can’t go wrong with picking it up.

Let’s talk about the general tips of the S7 Sniper and what maps it works best on.

    S7 Sniper General Information

    • Manufacturer: Misriah Armory, UNSC
    • Ammunition Type: Kinetic
    • Magazine Size: 4
    • Rate of Fire: Semi-Automatic
    • Time To Kill (Multiplayer): One-Shot (Headshot), 2 Shots (Body)

The S7 Sniper in Halo Infinite is a great all-around weapon for any situation. It is semi-automatic with a decently fast fire rate, allowing you to finish off multiple enemies at a time quickly. This weapon has very few extra properties to be aware of. For example, the Shock Rifle in Halo Infinite can disable vehicles or arc between targets. The Heatwave can bounce off walls and switch firing modes in Halo Infinite. The S7 Sniper, however, is just a basic powerhouse weapon. This weapon’s role is to do damage and get kills. It’s that simple.

It does have two different zoom options and can penetrate through Spartans, but it has no niche uses. The S7 Sniper is the perfect weapon to take down your targets from a distance as quickly as possible.

Best Maps To Use the S7 Sniper on in Halo Infinite Multiplayer

With its quick firing rate and severe damage, this weapon works well at any range. It works great even at close range if you can hit your no scopes. But to truly get the most out of this weapon, larger maps with high spots are the way to go.

    Live Fire

The S7 Sniper spawns in the middle of a small corridor that both teams will have to fight for on this small Halo Infinite map. While this map is more close-spaced than other maps, it provides good spots to snipe from, like the tower that overlooks the training area and nest area. However, most people will find themselves trying to no scope in the small spaces. Or, at the very least, use it to pop a shield and quickly switch to the BR for an easy headshot.

    Deadlock

Deadlock is an excellent map for sniping. It is also probably the smallest of the Big Team Battle maps. However, unlike other maps, you can see your opponent’s base from yours. Your base is the perfect spot to watch down the middle of the map and parts of the side. However, you are also in the open, so move from area to area to find enemies.

    Fragmentation

This map is great for sniping. It offers plenty of distance between you and the enemy, allowing you to line up your shots more efficiently. Fragmentation has great spots to shoot from. More importantly, once you grab the sniper from the nearby hill or a weapon pod, you can see a lot of the map from your base. This allows you to defend your flag or a nearby control point.

    High Power

Like Fragmentation, High Power has plenty of great spots to snipe from. The best place is probably from your base. That lets you see half of your side of the map. While the outlook on the cliff is a good spot, many people will be gunning for you. It is also straightforward to get to, thanks to the man cannons.

    Breaker

This new map introduced in Season 2 might be a good choice. It has plenty of wide-open areas on the sides of the map to catch players trying to gather weapons. However, the map does have some moving constructs in some areas of the map that might cause some problems.

Tips and Tricks to Using the S7 Sniper Rifle in Halo Infinite

    Aim For The Head

Sure, this is a basic tip, but it is also an essential one. The S7 Sniper is a one-shot kill with headshots. With only four rounds in a magazine and two magazines total, you want to make your shots count. Always aim for the head. Even if you miss the first time, try again. The S7 Sniper has a decent firing rate and little to no bloom, so don’t be afraid to fire off some quick shots to the head.

    Take Down Air Vehicles

Many air vehicles in the game have very little health, making them easy to take down when focusing fire on them. However, if you notice your team isn’t dealing well with the enemy’s Wasp or Banshee, your trusty S7 Sniper will make quick work of them. Usually, one clip (4 shots) is enough to take down both. With how quickly this weapon shoots, you will bring them down in seconds. That is if you don’t mind wasting your ammo on one target.

S7 Sniper Bullets Penetrate in Halo Infinite

The S7 Sniper shots penetrate through Spartans, making it possible to kill two or more enemies with one bullet. While this happening is very rare and most likely to occur on a smaller map, it is still achievable. 99.9% of the time, you will be aiming at one person, and another will come into position at the last second, getting you multiple kills. You will most likely never get this on purpose.

Zooming In with the S7’s Scope Shows Your Location

With most weapons that have a scope, including the Shock Rifle and the S7 Sniper, players will see a giant lens flare where you are at when you zoom in. The S7 Sniper will have a bright white light to indicate that you are looking zooming in while using the weapon. This is also true for other players. If you see a bright light, try to damage the enemy and knock them out of zooming.

Final Thoughts on Using the S7 Sniper in Halo Infinite

In short, the S7 Sniper is one of the greatest weapons in Halo Infinite due to its sheer power and the ability to fit in almost any situation. This weapon works well at all ranges once you learn how to no scope. It works great as a long-range support weapon as well. As long as you hit an enemy Spartan, their shields will be done for your teammates to finish them off with one well-placed headshot with a kinetic weapon.

Controlling the S7 Sniper on any Halo Infinite map it is available on is a significant advantage. What are your thoughts on this classic Halo weapon? Please sound off in the comments and let us know.
