Multiversus has been highly successful during its time in Open Beta, with over 10 million players recorded on Steam alone. Now, with the proper release date soon upon us, players can really get their teeth into the game.
We’ve already been delighted to hear of Season 1’s first pair of fighters. Black Adam, the latest DC superhero in the spotlight, will arrive as the first brawler. Stripe, the anti-Gizmo of Gremlins, is also set to join the cast. Morty of Rick & Morty will also arrive on Launch Day, August 23rd, much to the delight of fans.
With so many Warner Brothers properties at its fingertips, developer Player First has a huge list of characters to choose from. Today, we’re doing some theory crafting and ruminating on who else might be added to the list of fighters.
Will there be more DC heroes on the way? Will there be more Looney Tunes back in action? Check out our wish list of the best new characters in Multiversus we’d all love to see!
Honorable Mentions for Great, New Multiversus Character Ideas
15. Big Bird
A pretty left-field character to begin with, the squawker of Sesame Street could really ruffle some fighters’ feathers.
The large yellow canary is a product of Jim Henson and his many human-operated Muppet creations. Living on Sesame Street, Big Bird helps educate and entertain children with his Muppet buddies.
Judging by his appearances on the show, the fowl player has an array of talents and skills. One of his more unique talents is being able to ride a unicycle. This could easily be added as one of his moves, rushing across the stage on his singular wheel.
Being that he can fly, he could have additional jumps as a unique ability. This would match up to other winged characters like Pit/Dark Pit and Charizard in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
14. Jon Snow
With the Stark Clan member Arya already a character in MultiVersus, Game of Thrones could do with some more representation.
Arguably the central character in the Game of Thrones series, Jon Snow is the adoptive son of Eddard “Ned” Stark. Eventually rising to become known as “Warden of the North,” he becomes hated by the Lannisters in the Capital.
Being that he doesn’t have any access to dragons, Jon would function like a traditional sword character. He’d have access to his trusty sword Longclaw as his primary method of attacking. He could also use his bow, as he is a skilled archer and hunter by necessity.
One of his special abilities could be to Warg into animals, using his Direwolf, Ghost, to fight opponents.
13. Animaniacs
Rather than picking between the literal Warner siblings, why not have all three fighting at once as characters in MultiVersus?
From the mind of Steven Spielberg, the trio of Yakko, Wakko, and Dot make up the (primary) goofy Animaniacs. Originally conceived as platypuses, they were changed to dogs and based on the sons of WB animator and director Tom Ruegger.
The siblings are all about speed and wackiness. Their attacks would involve different interactions between the three, and they’d be fast but deal low damage. Whether it’s firing slingshots, performing cartwheels, or thumping mallets, the Looney humor should be a key factor.
It would be a challenging design task, but the up-tempo pace of MultiVersus suits a hybrid entity like Yakko, Wakko, and Dot.

12. Beetlejuice
A character who is known to be as annoying as he is magical, Beetlejuice could cause chaos in MultiVersus.
An unsurprising product of director Tim Burton, Beetlejuice is a “bio-exorcist” from the Netherworld. In the movie bearing his name, he helps a recently deceased couple scare a new family from their home by assisting them in haunting it.
Being a chaotic and mischievous spectre, Beetlejuice’s main abilities lie in shapeshifting. This could lead to an extremely wacky moveset where he transforms into various objects to lay the smack down. A giant spoon, a harpoon, even a crate of TNT. There’s no limit on what he could do/become.
As he can also teleport, he could also have this as a movement option. This would line up with characters like Mewtwo and Paultena in Smash Ultimate who have the same power.
11. Gandalf
Lord of the Rings is a primary WB property, so it would make perfect sense to include some characters in Multiversus. While you could have Aragorn, Gimli, or any of the Shire Hobbits, we’ve chosen the mighty wizard himself.
One of the chief characters in the LotR franchise, Gandalf is a powerful wizard who is part of the Fellowship of the Ring. His primary mission is to counter the actions and forces of Sauron, and destroy the One Ring.
Gandalf is a much older gentleman, so he should engage in little to no direct combat. His moves should focus almost entirely on his magical skills and spells. He could also utilise the powers of his Ring, Narya, to use powerful fire magic.
After a certain amount of time (or filling up a meter), he could transform into Gandalf the White. This would make his spells much stronger, but only last for a short period.
10 Most Epic Characters We’d Love to See Added to Multiversus
10. Space Ghost
Starting his cartoon at the same time as Scooby-Doo and the Flintstones, Space Ghost is a vintage character. After being away from the spotlight for some time, he could do with a resurgence.
Beginning life as a serious superhero, Space Ghost and his sidekicks Jan & Jace fought aliens in outer space. He then had the unusual move as the host of his own parody talk show, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast in the 1990s. Since then, he’s popped up in a few DC mini-series comics with Scooby-Doo and Green Lantern.
Space Ghost can fly and shoot energy beams from the power bands on his wrists. This makes both his movement and main form of attack easy to add into Multiversus. His belt also allows him to turn invisible, although that may not always be helpful in a fast-paced game where the player might lose track of their own Multiversus character.
9. Kong
Currently, the Iron Giant is the biggest character in Multiversus. The King of Skull Island might have something to say about that.
One of the original movie monsters, King Kong made his cinema debut in his titular film in 1933. Also known as the Eighth Wonder of the World, this great ape is an absolute gargantuan. Hailing from Skull Island, he is worshipped as a god-like being by its inhabitants.
Much like the Iron Giant, Kong should be all about raw power. Since he’s so large, he’d be incredibly easy to hit. However, this would be balanced by his huge limbs and his ability to lay on huge damage very quickly.
His gimmick effect could be related to him taking too much damage. If he sustains a certain amount of damage, he should gain access to a frenzy or rage mode. This would allow him super armor, and 1.5x damage.

8. Yosemite Sam
The roster of Looney Tunes characters is pretty broad. While you could get someone like Daffy Duck or Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam could be an interesting addition.
One of the classic Looney Tunes alumni, Yosemite Sam is a long-time adversary of Bugs Bunny. Usually depicted as a rooting, shooting, cowboy, Sam always has his six-shooters at his side.
Sam would be heavily projectile-based, with his guns as his main form of attack. He could throw sticks of dynamite, similar to how Steve in Smash Bros uses the TNT.
While you could easily add in other characters in Multiversus like Wile E. Coyote or Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam’ presents a different opportunity. His stature makes him an unorthodox pick, but interesting at the same time.
7. Val Hallen
A lesser-known character, Val Hallen is a master of the axe. A Norse Metal superhero, he hails from the Dexter’s Lab spin-off cartoon, the Justice Friends.
Describing himself as the “Viking God of Rock,” Val Hallen is part of the aforementioned Justice Friends. This includes all-American superhero Major Glory, Monkey, and the seemingly Hulk-inspired, Infraggable Krunk (or just Krunk for short).
His flying-V electric guitar is the source of his superpowers, and he would utilize it to full effect. He could swing it around rock and roll style and use crunching power chords to melt his opponents’ faces.
He can also summon lightning with his instrument, and with help from Major Glory, can perform the Justice Frenzy attack. This is an intense tornado that can damage anything in its path (except for bees).
6. Aqua Team Hunger Force would Make a Hilarious Trio of Multiversus Characters
A product of Adult Swim, the trio of Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad could function as a delicious tag team.
Originally appearing in the animated parody talk show, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, these food items were previously very different. Acting as sponsors for the fictional fast food chain Burger Trench, the three eventually spawned their own show. The humor was absurdist, the animation quality was low, and the laughs were unforgettable.
Being that the team is so varied, you could have a number of different attacks among each of the characters in Multiversus. Meatwad could launch himself as a living projectile, and Master Shake could release a jet stream of milkshake. Frylock could even release his potato strand hair like a kind of edible porcupine.
Being that the show is surreal and quirky, it would make sense that their moveset was as well.

5. Hawkman
With DC having a near limitless supply of heroes, it’s inevitable we’ll see more from them in Multiversus. With Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman already in the game, Hawkman could be the next face we could see.
There are many more popular DC heroes like Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter that will probably appear as new characters in Multiversus. However, it would be great to start with an underappreciated hero like Hawkman.
Hawkman has several different origins, but the most common link back to ancient Egypt. Prince Khufu of Egypt is reincarnated as archaeologist Carter Hall in 1940, or alternatively he’s Thanagarian police officer Katar Hol. Hawkman is actually considered to have one of the most confusing origins in all of DC!
Using the special Nth metal that gives him his powers and flight could easily carry over into his character in Multiversus. Owing to his origins, he’d make the most of his old-school weapons like maces and spears to fight his foes.
4. Omi
A martial master with an ability to control elemental magic, Omi is a tough cookie despite his small size.
The central character of the cartoon Xiaolin Showdown, Omi is a young but powerful Xiaolin warrior. A student of the Xiaolin Temple, he is the “leader” of the new Xiaolin recruits as they become Xiaolin Dragons. Xiaolin Dragons are warriors chosen to harness and utilize elemental powers of the planet.
Omi is the Xiaolin Dragon of Water, so is able to manipulate aquatic elements. As well as his Kung-Fu moves, he could use water-based attacks to overwhelm other fighters. He also has a unique move called Tsunami Strike that could flood a large part of the screen. This should be balanced, however, by requiring a large cooldown.
Our Top 3 Picks for New Characters in Multiversus
3. Osmosis Jones
The baddest white blood cell in the immune system, Osmosis “Ozzy” Jones can whip just as much butt in Multiversus.
First appearing in his standalone eponymous film, Osmosis Jones is a white blood police officer inside a human called Frank. As a deadly virus invades Frank, Ozzy is joined by a cold & flu pill called Drix, and the pair team up to fight the invader.
An Ozzy character in Multiversus could have his blaster as a standard weapon. Also, being that he’s a sticky blood cell, could wall hang for a much greater amount of time. He should be a slower, projectile-based character, similar to Banjo in SSBU.
He could have a unique ability where after dealing or taking a certain of damage, can call Drix for back-up.

2. Scorpion – Runner-Up to the Greatest New Multiversus Character
A legendary character within fighting games, the ninja spectre could well make a guest appearance as a character in Warner Brothers’ crossover title.
A ninja spectre whose family was killed, Hanzo Hasashi became an assassin before being slain. After being brought back to life to exact his revenge, he is tricked into fighting against the Lin Kuei clan. This constantly pits him against clan leader, Sub-Zero.
Scorpion’s moves are well-known at this point as he’s the MK version of Ryu in Street Fighter. Being the poster boy of the series, his spears, swords, and real face are all things that shouldn’t be messed with.
However, they should probably be toned down slightly, seeing as Multiversus is aimed at a much younger audience than Mortal Kombat is.
1. Robin – Our Most Wished for New Character in MultiVersus
A natural addition to the roster, the Boy Wonder is surely set to join his mentor as one of the best new characters in Multiversus at some stage.
Like many superheroes, “Robin” is a mantle, undertaken by various people over the years. This name is taken by those that fight by Batman’s side until they find an identity of their own. The most popular Robins to hold the position are Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake.
Being that Grayson eventually became Nightwing and Todd was lost to the Joker, Drake is usually the most portrayed Robin.
Robin would be the Yin to Batman’s Yang. Robin should be faster and more nimble than the Dark Knight. He should use his staff to both maneuver around and fight his enemies. Couple this with shurikens and a grapnel gun, and you’ve got a potent fighter.
