So what is Power in Darktide?
Warhammer 40K: Darktide has a ton of mechanics for you to wrap your head around. As you begin to learn your class and understand advanced combat tips and tactics, there’s yet another new stat that you must learn, Power.
Unlike the other weapon stats and combat mechanics we have covered in the past, like Wounds, Rending, and Impact, Darktide’s Power stat isn’t something that’s easily explainable by inspecting the weapon.
Power Has its Beginnings in Vermintide
Power can be confusing for new players who weren’t aware of its importance in Vermintide. Vermintide 2 veterans will be familiar with the Power stat and how it significantly impacts your damage, defenses, and all other aspects of gameplay. Without further ado, here’s our breakdown of what Power is in Darktide.
Power Boosts Your Weapon’s Attributes
Power plays a primary role in boosting all attributes on your guns and melee weapons. It is typically first introduced to the player through several weapon blessings or traits, which both provide boosts through percentages or flat number scaling.
This can be confusing since Power isn’t showcased anywhere else outside of these weapon blessings, unlike Darktide’s predecessor, Vermintide 2. Like the majority of Darktide’s stats, it’s not initially easy to understand, but we assure you this is one of the easier stats to learn.
As we previously stated, Power influences your damage output, defenses, and possibly other weapon stats. The more Power you have, the more damage you deal. It works like Vermintide 2, where the more Power you have, the more damage you inflict and the less damage you take. However, you can obtain bonus Power through two different scaling stats.

How can you increase your power in Darktide?
Let’s use two different weapon blessings for this example. The Headtaker blessing grants its user between +2-5 Power for 3.5 seconds on hitting an enemy, stacking five times. Another blessing called Decimator gives the user +10-20% Power on Hit, stacking five times.
The difference between these two blessings (apart from the weapons where you can obtain them) is one gives you a flat amount of Power, whereas the other gives you a percentage.
Typically it is better to have a percentage-based scaling rather than substituting for a flat amount of bonus Power. Still, no matter which type of blessing you have, both are beneficial. Power is calculated across all of your gear, so increasing your Power by 10% will make you hit harder and help influence other stats on your weapon.
Does Power only increase damage in Darktide?
The Power stat’s primary function is to boost your damage. Yet, it also affects a few other stats. We know that Power is tied directly to Weapon Rating in Darktide, influencing how much a weapon’s stats go up or down. If you have a Lasgun that has a 40% damage stat, having a blessing that boosts your Power by 10% should temporarily put your damage stat up to 50%.
However, we know for certain that the Cleave and Stagger stats are affected by Power. So we can assume that all offensive stats are buffed. However, since there is no way to check how these stat buffs through Power are applied mid-game, we have to make slight assumptions. The only uncertain thing is if you can gain a 10% bonus in Power, does it spread across all weapon stats or divide the buff evenly?
We have also had reports that Power influences your Defense or similar stats, but these reports are unconfirmed. Regardless, having bonus Power gifted through weapon blessings will influence your damage, Cleave, and Stagger, which we can guarantee.
Conclusion on Power in Darktide
In Darktide, power is a stat that affects damage, defenses, and other weapon stats. The more power you have, the more damage you can deal and take. You can obtain more power through different scaling stats, either in flat amounts or based on a percentage.
