GTFO is a cooperative horror-based FPS that throws you into a terrifying underground setting to combat the creatures that lurk in the darkness. GTFO blends strategic stealth gameplay, teamwork, and chaotic combat that tests your cooperation with your squad. Work together or die together. Make every shot count because resource management is key to staying alive. With such an avid fan-base, many players wonder if GTFO is on Xbox or Playstation. We will answer that question here for you.
A Quick Introduction to GTFO
GTFO is a team-based FPS that relies on team resource management and coordination to survive in the darkness of the Complex. The Warden oversees the operation in which you and other players descend into the abandoned Complex. Not much is known about the Warden, their intentions, or what they hope to gain from throwing Prisoners down into the dark.
The Complex is a mining and research facility. It was abandoned after a meteor was unearthed somewhere miles below the earth’s surface. At the same time, there was a horrific outbreak known as the Contamination. Little is known about the virus, other than it shaped and twisted the former employees who could not escape when the Complex was abandoned. From what is known, we have assembled a collection of GTFO lore for our readers.
What It’s Like Playing GTFO
You and three friends must descend into the dark and uncover what little secrets you can find. You will learn about the Warden, what happened in the Complex, and the history that led up to the Contamination outbreak. Your only hope to survive is your teammates, the loadout you bring, and the knowledge about combating the terrifying enemies in GTFO.
The Sleepers are the employees infected by the virus and remain dormant around the corridors inside the Complex. Sleepers come in different forms and sizes, from common Strikers to ranged Shooters. The deeper you dive into the Complex, the bigger the challenges and the enemies become. Sections become longer with optional objectives, and more dangerous enemies lurk around corners like the Charger.
Your loadout is key to countering these threats. Your weapons offer a wide range of options to deal with common enemy swarms or help neutralize more significant threats. Optimizing your loadout to have a balance or fit a specific role amongst your group is the key to survival. Build your loadout to fill a position or strengthen your team’s weakness. Your tools also bring utility or extra firepower, ranging from sentry guns to a bio tracker to scan for foes.
Is GTFO on Xbox?
Sadly GTFO isn’t on Xbox. GTFO’s recent development hasn’t shown any hints or references to being ported to any Xbox platform. Currently, GTFO only supports partial controller support on Steam, making the possibility of GTFO moving to the Xbox more unlikely.
IS GTFO on Playstation in 2023?
GTFO also isn’t available on any current Playstation console. GTFO recently had a significant update which included the start of Rundown seven. This new Rundown hasn’t mentioned any updates to any Steam controller adaptability and no teasing of any ports to the Playstation.

Where Can You Play GTFO?
Currently, GTFO is only available on Steam and is unavailable on the Epic Games Store. GTFO has been available on Steam since its early access and has officially released in December of 2021. You can purchase GTFO for currently 40$ on Steam, with somewhat regular sales whenever the game gets a new Rundown.
For those new to the game, a Rundown is GTFO’s take on seasonal content. A Rundown includes a complete shift in levels. It causes old locations to rotate out. As a result, a fresh dozen levels are available for players to explore. With each new Rundown new great GTFO guns often rotate in or out, and on top of new limited time, cosmetics become available to earn.
Summary of Whether You Can Play GTFO on Xbox or Playstation Consoles
It’s best to get into GTFO sooner rather than later to experience everything that a Rundown has to offer. Previous lore content or locations become unavailable to experience or access once a new rundown begins. Sadly there is no way to currently experience GTFO on any console, that includes Xbox and Playstation.
Therefore, the only way you can play GTFO is on a PC. However, if you have the hardware to run GTFO and three other friends you can depend on, GTFO is one of the best-underrated horror FPS games you must experience.
