One of the dozens of resources found across the various planets in Warframe is Cryotic. This unique resource is somewhat scarce from its inability to be passively farmed through any mission, unlike most resources. Today we will show you our methods for farming Cryotic in no time.
Where to Farm Cryotic in Warframe
Cryotic in Warframe is mainly farmed from the few different Excavation missions around on a few other planets in the solar system. While it’s unstated, the amount of Cryotic dropped from the Excavation drills does not change due to the mission’s difficulty. You will be given the same amount of Cryotic from level one or Steel Path missions.
Since the difficulty doesn’t matter, most players opt for Everest on Earth since the starting level is between 1 and 6. If you’re looking for a quick and easy farm with low difficulty, we do recommend Everest as our second-best spot to farm.
Of course, our best spot is Hieracon on Pluto for the extra boosts it provides. Hieracon always has a 35% additional resource drop chance, 30% affinity from kills, and 25% affinity from pistol kills. The other resource drop chance doesn’t affect the amount gained from the Excavation Drills but applies to everything else in the mission. The extra affinity also makes it easy to level up new weapons or even Warframes while farming, killing two birds with one stone.
You will be fighting infested if you are farming on our main spot at Hieracon. If you chose Everest, you will be fighting Grineer. In contrast, both missions are low level. It’s best to know what enemies you are fighting, especially if you plan to stay for an extreme amount of time in order to farm a lot of Cryotic in Warframe.

Better Methods to Farm Cryotic
All Excavation missions boil down to a repeating process of starting drills, refueling, and defending them. We recommend bringing Frost, Gara, Khora, or even Limbo for these missions since they all have some barrier or defensive ability that helps prevent damage to the drills. Defensive Warframes make these missions to get Cryotic significantly more manageable, and their abilities certainly help the longer you stay in the mission.
We recommend only having one, maybe two, drills active at a time if you are solo. If you have a squad with you, more defensive Warframes still help, but if you mainly are defending one or two drills, high AOE frames like Ember or Octavia are helpful.
One small tip can help you refuel your drills faster; your Operator can carry a power cell while your Warframe also has one. Pick up a power cell in your Warframe, exit with your Operator, and grab a second cell. Void dash over to the drill, insert the cell as your Operator, then call your Warframe back to you, and it will still have the power cell in its hand.
Extra Gathering Tips
It’s worth mentioning that Resource Boosters do affect your Cryotic earnings. One drill will reward you with 100 Cryotic in Warframe. Thus, if you have a resource booster, it doubles 200 per drill. There are also a few additional ways to boost your earnings without getting a booster.
The Smeeta Kavat’s Charm mod has a 28% chance to bestow its owner with good fortune every 27 seconds. The Charms effect shares the same buff as a resource booster, allowing you to gain an extra 100 Cyrotic.
