HROT has dozens of well-kept secrets scattered throughout every level. Like most boomer shooter secrets, these can be found behind destructible walls, parkour jumps, hidden switches, and more. HROT’s secrets are difficult to find and can give even the best secret hunters some trouble in locating them all.
This guide will quickly highlight all the secrets in the first chapter of HROT and provide their respective locations so eager easter egg hunters like you can find them and benefit from them. Buckle up because there are 43 of them, and we have descriptions and screenshots to help you find every single one of them.
All Secrets in HROT Chapter 1
Let’s explore the hidden corners of HROT’s first chapter. Our guide will reveal the gems you may have missed on your initial playthrough. If you have already passed Chapter 1, scroll to the end to find links to our guides covering the locations of all secrets in HROT Chapters 2 and 3.

E1M1: Kosmonautů Station
Secret 1
In the third room with the Soviet Shotgun, take the hidden passage on the right, which has an explosive barrel that you can push down the corridor to a cracked wall. Detonating the barrel will blow the wall open. Then, climb the ladder and move down the passage until you find the Submachine Gun.
Secret 2
In the room with the Babushka Doll there is another great HROT secret. One of the boxes on the left has an interactive panel. Use it, and the wall will drop, and you will be rewarded with an armored Wifebeater, which adds over 60 points of armor.
Secret 3
On the Kosmonautů Station train tracks, several wall markings look like double-ended arrows. Jump across the tracks to the middle marking and interact with the wall to open a hidden room containing one Koruna. When jumping across, be careful not to fall onto the tracks or collide with an oncoming train.
Secret 4
After progressing through the train station, you will come across some bathrooms. Enter the lady’s restroom and find a cracked wall behind a toilet. Use any explosives to blast it open and uncover the next secret area for some extra ammo.
Secret 5
Towards the end of the map, near the brasserie, there’s a small electric panel in the far right corner of the plaza. Find the electric panel and shoot it to reveal a small room directly underneath the building to which the panel is connected.
Secret 6
The final secret of Kosmonautů Station in HROT is in the final ventilation duct. Interact with the panel to the right before you exit to reveal a false panel that has some food and a Grenade.
E1M2: Luna Secrets in HROT Chapter 1
Secret 1
On the ground floor of the office building, located to the left side of the reception desk, you will find a small switch neatly positioned. Flip the switch upwards and make your way back to the first floor, where you will come across a meeting room.
As you enter, direct your attention towards the left side of the stage, where an open panel and our next HROT easter egg await your discovery.
Secret 2
Once you find yourself in the mysterious utility tunnels beneath the House of Culture, carefully navigate your way through the dimly lit corridors. As you proceed, locate the pillars that obstruct the water main and skillfully unlock them to reveal the hidden path ahead. Follow the narrow ledge to the left, being mindful of the treacherous gaps, until you come across a peculiar cracked wall. Blow it open with an explosive, for behind its fragile facade lies a valuable cache of Grenades well worth the detour.
Secret 3
From the top level of the water main, go to the stairs on the right and follow them down to a small pool area that connects to a watercourse. When facing the watercourse, there is an interactive panel in the left corner. You can easily find the panel because it doesn’t match the texture of the walls. Interact with it to open a secret area in HROT.
Secret 4
In the utility room of the meat shop, there is an interactive panel in the left corner that leads to a hidden duct. Interact with the wall and drop down the duct; you will find a Soviet Shotgun. Another panel will open up to drop you back into a tunnel where you originally met the Miner.
Secret 5
In the courtyard with the rotating carousel of Swans, there is an open window next to the carousel. Climb on top of the carousel and jump into the window for a Medkit in another one of this level’s hidden areas.
Secret 6
While you are in the same courtyard as the rotating carousel mentioned in the last HROT secret, climb back on and jump onto the lamppost on the other side.
After landing on the lamppost, make one more jump, break the fan on the side of the building, and climb down the air vent for the final hidden easter egg of the level.
E1M3: All Secrets in the HROT Sewage Treatment Plant Level
Secret 1
At the start of the level, after emerging from the water, take the path to the left and follow it all the way down until you come across a crack in the wall. Use explosives to blow it up and reveal the first secret of this HROT level.
Secret 2
In the room with the rusted key, there is a button that blends in with the wall next to the entrance. If you press the button, a secret passageway will open, revealing a Miner inside. Once inside the hidden passageway, you will discover a Lightning Gun, which happens to be one of the most powerful weapons in the game HROT.
Secret 3
Past the Rusted Key door is an open room with a bolt system and a ladder that leads down to the floor below. Jump to the ledge on the right, then swing around the wall to the second platform and grab the items, which count as the secret.
Secret 4
Inside the first room past the main entrance to the treatment plant, the one with a giant cylindrical device, there’s a small shield symbol on the left corner next to the door. Indirect with the shield to open a panel that reveals a button. Press the button, and the wall behind you will drop, revealing a Kejdovec guarding a second Pistol.
E1M4: Sokol Gym
Secret 1
In the utility tunnels at the start of the level, where you turn the valve to raise the water level, there is a small nook located behind the valve.
You should stand there as the water rises and then swim upwards until you reach the first secret area of HROT’s Sokol Gym level.
Secret 2
On Majakovského Street, there is a sign on the wall in front of the watercourse that reads “Fishing Prohibited.” Interact with the misaligned textured wall, and it will reveal a hidden area.
Secret 3
In the storage room with the rats behind the common key door, you will find a cracked wall on the right side of the room, positioned next to a stack of boxes. You can blow it open to obtain a powerful Lightning Gun.
Secret 4
Inside the sports club, there is a locker room on the right that proudly displays the flag of Czechoslovakia on the wall. As you walk through the flag, you will discover a hidden back room adorned with a few intriguing items.
Secret 5
Also, inside the sports club, the last secret can be found in the Gym at the top of the first ladder on the left. Climb to the top and interact with the wall to open a panel to get the last hidden secret area.
E1M5: Palace of Culture Hidden Areas and Easter Eggs
Secret 1
Go to the left corner of the Palace of Culture, where you will find a line of panels scaling the side of the building. Interact with the bottom panel to open it, and you will discover a ladder leading down to a small room.
Secret 2
Once you approach the train station, you’ll notice a small vent on the left set of stairs that cannot be jumped up to. To gain access to this air vent, you’ll need to make use of a nearby trash can.
Be careful not to destroy it, as doing so will render it impossible to reach this HROT secret. After eliminating any nearby enemies, gently push the trash can down the stairs next to the vent, then jump on it and break the vent to unlock the entrance to the hidden area and the special things inside.
Secret 3
To access the secret, go past the door with the Rusted Key. Descend the stairs to the first landing, which overlooks the mechanical room. Jump onto the top of an electric cabinet and interact with the wall to reveal the hidden surprise.
Secret 4
The last secret area that you can find in this HROT level is hidden behind a cracked wall in the long corridor where you engage in a battle with a few turrets. You need to blow the wall down in order to access the level’s final easter egg.
E1M6: Vysehrad Castle
Secret 1
When you drop down into the watercourse that ends in a large pool with two waterfalls, there is a cracked wall. Blow it open to reveal a hidden Hussite Hand Cannon. This extra firepower can come in handy when facing the game’s tougher enemies.
Secret 2
In the same room as the first secret you found on this HROT game level, climb the ladder and perform a tight jump to the left so that you can swing around on top of the platform where the twin waterfalls originate. This jump can be tricky, so be prepared to retry it several times. No judgment if it takes a while.
Secret 3
Once you enter the Castle, there is a bundle of shells on the ground in the back left of the room. Interact with the wall next to the shotgun shells, and a panel will open, revealing another of HROT’s hidden easter eggs for curious players, such as yourself.
Secret 4
Before opening the entrance to the other crypt underneath the castle, press a stone switch. Then, climb the ladder to press the two buttons that open the crypt passage. Afterward, return to the first button and press it again. The stone pillar raised by the first switch will then lower into the floor. Jump down to access the secret area.
Secret 5
You can see the location of the third secret before entering the crypt. However, to actually access it, you will need to enter the crypt. Once inside, there is a small window that is initially blocked.
This window will become unblocked once you obtain the Rusted Key. You can then jump onto some boxes outside and from there, jump across to another stack of boxes that holds the fifth hidden area for this HROT level on top.
Secret 6
In the first room of the crypt, you’ll find a small interactive panel on the wall. Before proceeding to the room with the Rusted Key, interact with the panel to reveal the secret area and easter eggs.
Secret 7
After flipping the switch in the crypt and obtaining the Rusted Key, ascend the stairs but halfway up, turn around to shoot an electrical panel. Shooting the panel opens a hidden corridor on the right.
Secret 8
In the watercourse beyond the Rusted Key door, you must swim down to enter the main tank. Just after entering the tunnel, swim up, and you will find a small air pocket you can climb out of to discover a secret with one Koruna.
This is a nice Easter Egg for those willing to brave it. Without this HROT secrets guide, few players are able to find this hidden area.
Secret 9
The final secret to uncover of the level is found underwater beneath some breakable boards next to the third valve. Swim down, break the planks, and then go through the opening to get a Medkit.
E1M7: Underground Stream
If you’ve stayed with us thus far, you’ve found a ton of great hidden secrets and Easter Eggs during HROT’s first chapter. Let’s dig in now and show you how to find more on the game’s seventh level: Underground Stream.
Secret 1
Near the dock at the start of the map is a cracked wall to the right, above the water line of the river. Blow it open to reveal the first secret of the level.
Secret 2
This secret can easily be found by those willing to look. There are some crates near the valve to lower the water level. Interact with the center crate, revealing the second secret.
Secret 3
After acquiring the Rusted Key, there is an interactive section on the right wall. Opening this section reveals a letter that you can take down to a small secret room with a radio and some writing on the wall.
Secret 4
In the plaza, you will find a long fence situated to the left of the bottle factory. If you navigate to the far left side, you’ll notice an electrical panel fixed on the wall. Take aim and shoot at it, and behold! A hidden door will open in the store room located on the right, granting you access to the area behind the fence and the last secret area on this level in HROT.
E1M8: Mausoleum
We’ve gotten to the final level of the game’s first chapter. Don’t worry, we’ll link out to all of the rest of the game’s hidden gems in subsequent chapters as well, at the end of the article. For now though, let’s find those last hidden secrets in Chapter 1 of HROT.
Secret 1
The first secret of this level is concealed behind a deceptive wall that reveals itself once you obtain the Aluminum Key. Interact with the wall panel on the right to uncover a Lightning Gun, providing you with a powerful weapon to wield in your adventure.
Secret 2
To unveil the second secret, aim your sights at the electric panel tucked away on the right side of the monument. Position yourself against the wall in the corner and direct your gaze upward until the panel comes into view. With a well-placed shot, the concealed wall behind you will reveal a hidden passage you can take to find more secrets in Chapter 1 of HROT.
Secret 3
Inside the monument, there is a room with a coffin next to several pillars. To the right, there is a panel with a decorated texture, which is different from the rest of the room. Interact with the wall, and you will uncover the third secret of HROT’s Mausoleum level.
Secret 4
In the crypt, after battling a few rats, you will come across a room adorned with several stone coffins. Among them, you’ll find a particular stone coffin with a slightly concealed cracked wall. Utilize explosives to blow it up, then ascend over the debris to unveil the second-to-last secret hidden within the first Chapter of HROT.
Secret 5 – The Last Hidden Area in HROT Chapter 1
The last secret in Chapter 1 of HROT can be discovered just before entering the tower. In the room, you will find several boxes stacked in one corner. Push a barrel to create a path for parkouring on top, allowing you to grab a Lightning Gun before facing the final boss.
