Mul-T is a multi-purpose robot with great versatility utilizing its various interchangeable weapons. It is designed to adapt to multiple play styles. Moreover, their different weapon types allow them to play at different ranges and with different Mul T build paths in Risk of Rain 2. Mul T functions differently from other survivors, as you can pick two primaries for them when starting the game.

Mul-T is a strong pick for anyone who wants to juggle different play styles. It is also perfect for anyone interested in pretending to be the crossbreed between Railgunner and an Engineer turret. You must complete the Verified challenge to unlock Mul T in Risk of Rian 2. Meeting this challenge requires finishing the first teleporter event five times. You can easily accomplish this if you take your time during multiple runs.

How to Unlock Mul-T in Risk of Rain 2

    Mul-T – Verified

To unlock Mul-T in Risk of Rain 2, you must survive to the second stage 5 times. The challenge Verified requires you to complete the first teleporter event five times in total and is a very easy challenge to perform by playing on Drizzle and resetting after each completed teleporter event.

You can also easily unlock Mul-T by just doing runs as other characters in RoR2. Mul-T will unlock if you aren’t stuck on the first stage.

    How Do Mul-T’s Abilities Work?

    Primary Weapons on Mul T

    Auto-Nailgun

Mul-T’s first of many primary weapons is the Auto-Nailgun which fires 12 nails per second for 840% damage per second. After releasing the fire button, the gun finishes with a blast of 12 nails before entering a short cooldown. The Auto-Nailgun has a proc coefficient of 0.6. Yet it suffers from default projectile fall-off, weakening the nails at long ranges.

    Rebar Puncher

Mul-T’s next default primary weapon is the Rebar Puncher, which works similar to a railgun. The Rebar Puncher fires a line of rebar that deals 600% base damage with a proc coefficient of 1.0. Unlike the Auto-Nailgun, a reload is required before firing every shot, but the Rebar Puncher doesn’t suffer from damage fall-off.

    Scrap Launcher

Mul-T’s Scrap Launcher is his first unlockable primary weapon which functions like a rocket launcher. Mul T’s Scrap Launcher holds up to four scrap rockets. Each deal 600% base damage, has a proc coefficient of 1.0, and has sweet spot damage fall-off.

The Scrap Launcher has a slight delay between shots and begins a short reload after one rocket has been fired. No matter if you fire one or all missiles, the reload will refill all four shots in the gun.

To unlock the Scrap Launcher for your Mul T build in Risk of Rain 2, you must complete the Pest Control Challenge. To finish this challenge, you must defeat two Beetle Queens without leaving the teleporter zone. The Beetle Queens are a standard boss for stages one and two, but activating the Shrine of the Mountain increases your chances of multiple queens spawning.

    Power-Saw

Power-Saw is Mul-T’s last primary weapon which excels in melee combat. It causes Mul-T to deploy a massive saw that deals 1000% base damage per second to nearby enemies with a proc coefficient of 1.0. Each damage tick deals 100% damage, and one attack ticks ten times per second with base attack speed.

To unlock Mul-T’s Power-Saw, you must complete the Gotcha! Challenge. For this challenge, you must land the killing blow on an Imp Overlord with the Preon Accumulator. The Preon Accumulator is high damaging equipment that shoots a slow-moving ball that deals 8000% damage in an explosion radius of 20 meters.

You can acquire the Preon Accumulator from the unique chest on Rallypoint Delta. The Timed Security Chest is a chest that can only be interacted with if you open it before the in-game timer reaches 10 minutes.

    Secondaries

    Blast Canister

Blast Canister is the only secondary for you Mul T build in Risk of Rain 2. It launches several small bombs from a canister that stuns enemies on contact. The canister deals 200% damage while the small bombs deal 5×44% damage and stuns. Holding the secondary key displays the projectile’s arc and blast radius. Use this to ensure you get the most out of your crowd control.

The Only Utility Ability Mul T has in Risk of Rain 2

Mul-T has one Utility to add to his build in Risk of Rain 2, and it’s called Transport Mode. Although it’s arguably not as versatile as other Utilities, Transport Mode is a great way to retreat from a bad situation or engage a group of enemies. Hitting an enemy with Transport Mode will deal 2.5x your base damage, but if the enemy is large, you will stun them and do 10x your base damage, ending Transport Mode.

You gain 200 armor when this ability is active, reducing damage taken roughly by 66%. The power also gives you a temporary burst of approximately 45% movement speed.

    Specials

Mul-T’s specials drastically change how you play them, providing a different gameplay mode with each. Mul-T’s primary special is Retool. It allows Mul T to swap between the two sets of primaries chosen at the start of the game. Retool can switch between two methods of gameplay without having to commit fully to one. This allows Mul-T to equip two sets of Equipment items with their unique cooldowns. We believe the alternative is stronger as great as this ability can be.

Mul-T’s Power Mode ability is an incredibly strong toggle that enables the robot to fire both primaries chosen at the start of the game at the expense of speed. Although the tooltip suggests that Mul-T gets reduced to 40% speed, they roughly keep 66% of their movement speed.

This ability grants Mul T 100 Armor in Risk of Rain 2, which would reduce damage taken by roughly 50%, given that you have no natural armor. The other restriction is that Mul-T is prevented from using their default secondary in this form, but it is arguably their weakest ability, so you aren’t losing much.

To unlock Power Mode, you must reach stage 7 or later and go to the Void Fields. In case you were unsure, Void Fields can be found only by going to the Bazaar Between Time and then to the cove deep underneath the spawn. It’s highly recommended only to do this if you’re playing on Drizzle and you already have a build that will slaughter the overpowered enemies around you.

What Should You Build On Mul T in Risk of Rain 2?

Mul-T’s item choice revolves around their numerous primary abilities, depending more on what play style you wish to go for. You might decide to go for attack speed, crit, armor, movement speed, on-hit, on-kill, etc. We believe that taking Power Mode alongside two Auto-Nailguns is the best option for Mul-T. This will turn Mul-T into an on-hit tank and allow you to shred enemies if you heal on-hit against enemies due to the several pellets from the Auto-Nailgun.

The only thing we don’t encourage, at least from a serious standpoint, is using the Power Saw. Unless you are doing it for fun, the Power Saw is not ideal in most situations, especially if you don’t have an alternative Primary option.

Tips & Tricks on How to Play Mul-T in Risk of Rain 2

    • Mul T’s Power-Saw can be used while sprinting and in Transport Mode so long as the fire button is held down.
    • When exiting Power Mode, all stacks of Blast Canisters are immediately recharged.
    • When starting a Risk of Rain 2 run as Mul-T, you can select the same primary weapon twice. This allows you to dual-wield the same gun.
    • The Essence of Heresy replaces Retool or Power Mode, which makes Mul-T’s secondary primary inactive until the time is removed. Avoid grappling Essence of Heresy on Mul-T.
    • Power Mode essentially doubles Mul-T’s damage output with little drawbacks, allowing you to double the damage and fire rate of any primary such as dual-wielding Auto-Nail guns or Power-Saws.
    • Stacking attack speed allows the recoil of the Auto-Nailgun to knock Mul-T back enough to keep them indefinitely in the air.

    Wrap Up

Mul-T is a slow-moving powerhouse with enough primary weapon choices to fit a variety of Risk of Rain 2 playstyles. They also have a surprising amount of tankiness to power through hordes of monsters that others can’t.
