Are you playing Hogwarts Legacy for the first time and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of choosing your house? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! In this article, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at all the houses featured in Hogwarts Legacy so that you can make an educated decision when it comes to picking the best house for your character. From ambitious Slytherin to intellectual Ravenclaw and beyond, read on to find out which one is right for you!

What are Houses in Hogwarts Legacy

One of the most interesting aspects of this magical universe is its house system, which are tight-knit communities for distinct types of students at Hogwarts. Even if you have only a little knowledge of Harry Potter, you have probably heard of the famous House of Gryffindor, which is only one of the four in Hogwarts.

The House system in the Harry Potter universe defines communities within Hogwarts that accommodate students who compete throughout the school year, earning points until the end of the school cycle.

Every house in Hogwarts Legacy has students with specific characteristics that fit the house to which they belong.

Sorting into a House in Hogwarts Legacy

Sorting Hat in Hogwarts Legacy Recommending House Choice
The Sorting Hat is very iconic of the Harry Potter Franchise.

Every new student of Hogwarts will have to meet the Sorting Hat at the beginning of the school year during the Sorting Ceremony, which will go student by student, deciding which house is best for each of them.

While it is not entirely official, the Sorting Hat likely picks a House for students based on their qualities; however, it is not 100% accurate.

In Hogwarts Legacy, the Sorting Hat will suggest which house fits you better, but you can choose whichever house you want.

Differences between Houses in Hogwarts Legacy

The houses in Hogwarts Legacy are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin; each representing different types of students. We’ll briefly describe the characteristics of those in each Hogwarts house.

    Gryffindor

Gryffindor tends to have the most daring, brave, and chivalrous individuals. Some of the most iconic characters of the Harry Potter franchise belong to this house, including Harry Potter himself.

    Hufflepuff

The Hufflepuff house is known for having hard-working and dedicated students with tons of patience and who are very loyal to their ideas and virtues. Few main characters in the book series came from Hufflepuff; however, they tend to be well-liked and loyal friends.

    Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw has the most bright, most intelligent, and most creative students among all Hogwarts peers. Ravenclaws in the book series tended to be very bookish and a bit aloof. Yet, they are known to produce many great wizards.

In Hogwarts Legacy, those sorted into Ravenclaw house tend to exemplify the nerdy, but friendly archetype. They are passionate about learning and demonstrating their knowledge.

    Slytherin

Slytherin house is usually home to the most ambitious, cunning, and self-motivated individuals in Hogwarts. Many of the most famous wizards in the Potter universe came from Slytherin house. Unfortunately, most of the bad ones did as well, including the infamous Voldemort and many of his followers.

How Your Gameplay in Hogwarts Legacy Changes by Picking a House

Much of the story can remain the same, regardless of which House you choose to join in Hogwarts Legacy. However, it will have a large cosmetic difference and will impact some quests and dialogue, so it is important to make a choice that will enrich your gaming experience. Here are some of the ways your house selection impacts your playthrough:

    • Each player will have a different common room based on their house.
    • House colors will get reflected in gear.
    • Additional socializing options.
    • Additional dialog options.
    • Unique quests.

Before moving forward, it is important to note that the houses in Hogwarts Legacy are unique, and this list mainly focuses on their common rooms and other slight differences. Remember that you cannot go wrong with any house you pick.

    4. Gryffindor House

It is no lie that Gryffindor is the most iconic house in this universe, as it houses one of the most beloved characters of this franchise: Harry Potter. If you want to play Hogwarts Legacy as if you were a character from the main series, then this is likely the right house for you.

The Gryffindor Common Room – Cozy and Elegant

Gryffindor House Common Room in Hogwarts Legacy

Unfortunately, despite all of the attention it garnered in the books, it may not be the most fun for your playthrough. In large part, this is because it will already seem very familiar, even the first time you step into it. On the other hand, the other houses’ histories and common rooms were much less well covered in the books.

The Gryffindor common room offers a cozy and rustic feeling, filled with fancy furniture and the iconic colors of gold and red representing the lion of this house. This house is also home to the playful non-playable characters of the community who often have fun around this room.

    Grand view of window

Undoubtedly, Gryffindor is gorgeous; however, it does not stand out among the other three houses, each having a unique feeling, making Gryffindor House in Hogwarts Legacy feel like the most standard and basic one.

While the other three houses have fun and detailed entrances, Gryffindor only has an animated painting that functions as a door with nothing special.

Unique Quest if You Join the Gryffindor House

Joining Gryffindor House in Hogwarts Legacy offers the quest of “The Hunt for the Missing Pages,” wherein you can meet some unique characters.

    3. Hufflepuff House

The Hufflepuff Common Room – A Perfect House for Plant Lovers

Hufflepuff is known for having hard-working students who enjoy being in, and working with, plants, as the common rooms are filled with gorgeous plants.

The environment in Hufflepuff is very relaxed, as the community is not as competitive compared to the other houses and is often more focused on supporting students.

What it is like to be in hufflepuff house

Of all houses, Hufflepuff has the strongest visual preference for something, so if you are not particularly fond of flora or fauna, joining Hufflepuff house in Hogwarts Legacy may not appeal to you as it has a specific target.

    Entrance

While not as impressive as the next two houses on this list, Hufflepuff’s entrance is still charming on its way. The entrance is a detailed wine barrel that will open as soon as a Hufflepuff student walks nearby.

Side Quest Available by Sorting into Hufflepuff House

Of all the houses you can pick in Hogwarts Legacy, Hufflepuff offers the most exciting side quest, as it will have you visiting the infamous Azkaban Prison on a mission of “Prisoner of Love.”

    2. Slytherin House

Common Rooms – A High-Class Environment for the Most Ambitious Players

Slytherin is the perfect house for the most ambitious leaders with no remorse for their actions or consequences.

This house is all about getting everything done one way or another, perfectly represented by the stunning visuals of its Common Room.

    Dorms in Slytherin

The common rooms of Slytherin are below ground, with dark colors of green and silver providing a gothic and elegant feeling. If you are looking for a more serious and dark environment, then Slytherin is the perfect house for you.

    Entrance

Here is where Slytherin gets a lot better, as it has one of the most stunning entrances of all the Houses in Hogwarts Legacy.

The entrance to Slytherin seems to be nothing but a brick wall, but as soon as you get close to it, it opens.

Slytherin House Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy

The Slytherin Side Quest will have you seeking clues around the map to meet some key characters on the quest known as Scrope’s Last Hope.

    1. Ravenclaw – The Best Hogwarts Legacy House

Cozy and elegant with a mix of playful and wise characters roaming the common rooms, Ravenclaw is hands down the most impressive house of Hogwarts Legacy.

Though smaller than Slytherin, Ravenclaw has excellent detail and beautiful scenery in every corner. This House welcomes the most intelligent and creative players who wish to focus on becoming talented wizards and witches who can thrive in any magical art they desire.
