What Players Should Expect in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II (2022)

Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022), with an official reveal coming on June 8. When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) was announced in early 2019, the community got hyped, as Activision showed us that they learned from previous mistakes. Moreover, they wanted to make up for those mistakes, and they did!

Modern Warfare (2019) managed to appeal to the casual community and the more tactical-hardcore one. The game was designed more for tactical players. As a result, casual players were not happy with all the changes, especially the map design. The community complained about some changes. Complaints focused on the minimap and the asymmetrical map design that took most players time to get used to. Yet overall, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) was well received.

With their newest engine and mechanics, we hope that Infinity Ward will rock it with this upcoming title. As mentioned in our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) wishlist, the past Modern Warfare entry revolutionized Call of Duty. Yet, is it vital for Modern Warfare 2 (2022)? We don’t think so.

Activision should focus on giving the same level of passion and dedication and give us an improved version of what we got and 2019 that can make up for the mistakes done with Call of Duty: Cold War and Vanguard.

The Multiplayer Experience the Community Deserves

It is no lie that multiplayer in Call of Duty games tends to be the main attraction. With intense, fast-paced gunplay that the gaming community, in general, fell in love with from the very beginning, Call of Duty has managed to maintain a loyal community for almost two decades. Activision focused more on their newest attraction, Warzone, in the latest entries. In doing so, they ignored their community that only wanted to play multiplayer.

We hope that Activision won’t give up on its multiplayer community! Especially now that they announced that Warzone 2 would be a different experience from Modern Warfare 2 (2022).

Here is what we think Activision will do for their next entry based on the community feedback.

Guns, Guns, Guns, and More Guns!

Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019) Surprised us with a fantastic armory with classic weapons in call of duty, such as the AK-47, SCAR, MP5, etc. The rumors say that we are getting some fan-favorite guns back, such as the ACR and The Intervention, and oh boy, we can’t be more excited.

(Updated) As of the game’s beta release, we’ve been able to get our hands on it and now have definitively been able to pick out the best guns in 2022’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare II.

Some Good Ol’ Classic Maps are Back

Some leaks from a trustworthy source suggest that we are getting some old classic maps. These may include the terminal, which is a map the community has been begging for. Other maps we are possibly getting are:

    • Highrise
    • Favela
    • Quarry

Activision already allowed us to experience some classic maps. Previous releases included Hardhat and Rust in Modern Warfare (2019) and Shipment in several other Call of Duty titles.

It is 2022, and many games are stepping away from some old tendencies, so why not keep some of the best maps released in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)? Not only this, but everyone will love to see some new unique and memorable maps like the ones we got in previous entries.

    Call of Duty: Tarkov Warfare?

Another leak from the same source rumors that we are getting a similar mode to Escape From Tarkov. Escape From Tarkov is a highly hardcore tactical shooter. When you die in that game, you lose all the gear you carry. Players must be savvy on guns, calibers and ammo type, healing equipment, and tactics.

It is a very complex game with a very high learning curve. DICE already tried to recreate a similar game mode called Hazard Zone with Battlefield 2042 that ultimately flopped. Trust us. You will find a match faster in EA Sports Cricket 2011 than in Hazard Zone.

We highly doubt that Activision will aim for the same level of hardcore as in Escape From Tarkov. Yet, at least try to keep it similar in a more casual way.

Call of Duty back to its roots

Something that we loved from Modern Warfare (2019) is watching Call of Duty going back to its roots. We loved the tremendous tactical and dark feeling while maintaining a badass-military vibe. We hope they can recreate this type of gameplay with great visual and sound design in MWII. Unfortunately, many fans got disappointed with games like CoD: Cold War and Vanguard, where Activision lost their identity for their games.

    Gunfight

We all can agree that Gunfight is one of the best game modes in CoD. Gunfight is a 2 v 2 mode where two teams get a random loadout and have to kill each other on a small map before the round ends. If the timer hits 0, a flag will appear near the middle of the map. Then, a team must capture it to win.

This might sound like something we have seen before but mixed with Modern Warfare (2019) engine and mechanics, Infinity Ward managed to make one of the most unique and fun game modes in the saga, and we want more of it!

    Improved blueprint system

As we mentioned in our 12 Things Fans Want in the New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022), Modern Warfare (2019) had a fantastic armory and blueprint system, but it definitely can have some screws tweaked to make it better. It was very annoying to buy a skin you liked at the store with real money only to be disappointed because its attachments are useless. We hope Activision will take some feedback from this and create a blueprint system that will maintain the looks of the gun skin you paid for.

CoD MW II Players Will Be Able to Customize their Guns with Various Attachments

    A GOOD Ranked System

Call of Duty always lacked a proper ranked system, and when they tried, it’s been awful all around. We hope Activision stops overthinking this and keeps it simple with an ELO system.

    Some More Minor Leaks

Apparently, dolphin diving was introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops. This is very well welcomed as long as we keep the sliding mechanic. Another old classic that might be coming back is the old Last Stand in the form of a field upgrade that allows players to pull out a pistol if downed, giving them a last chance of fighting.

    Warzone

Warzone is hands-down one of the best battle royale games ever released, especially at launch. It just worked so well with what Infinity Ward created with their new engine, animations, and mechanics. Sounds like in the next entry Warzone will not be included and we are getting a separate experience from Modern Warfare 2 (2022) with Warzone 2.

    Single Player and Co-Op

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s original trilogy was a marvelous story and fans loved it. Modern Warfare (2019) Rebooted most of the original story keeping the same characters and so far Infinity Ward it’s nailing it, providing a similar feeling with a new story.

Modern Warfare (2009) provides players with a breathtaking experience and narrative that nobody expected, especially with missions such as Loose Ends that will live forever in players’ minds and hearts. Yes, it hurt at first but we want this level of narrative for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022).

    The Return of Task-Force 141

They are back! This was not only confirmed in the ending of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) with an amazing cinematic of Captain Price gathering a Task Force which he called 141 members such as “Soap” Mactavish, Simon Riley “Ghost” And Kyle “Gaz” That let’s remember, on the original trilogy, Gaz died at the ending of the first entry.

Activision released a teaser confirming these three characters plus a 4th new character from Mexico. Fans definitely hope for the return of other characters such as “Roach”, Sgt. Foley, and more.

You can choose from multiple custom skins in CoD Modern Warfare II
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II (2022) Players are Able to Select DIfferent Character Skins

    Classic Spec Ops

The original trilogy has one of the best co-op modes this franchise has ever seen. This game mode was mastered entirely in Modern Warfare 3, allowing players to jump into maps with different challenges either alone or teamed with friends. This game mode offered a lot of fun and memorable moments for players.

Unfortunately, Call of Duty (2019) Spec Ops was nothing more than disappointing with a massive map and broken and overpowered AI. We hope that Infinity Ward can recreate the greatness of this game mode and bring back some good old but improved memories.

As much as the industry taught us not to be hyped for upcoming games from triple AAA companies, we cannot stop being excited about this forthcoming title that hopefully will resemble the greatness of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019).
