This massive shield is big enough to cover an Ogryns huge body, letting you push forward toward a dozen traitor guardsmen or Gunners.
The Slab Shield also has a unique active function: it plants the shield into the ground, making you stationary but blocking all attacks from the front without any Stamina cost. This defensive stance is incredibly strong, giving you the power to endlessly block attacks, even from formidable opponents like the Daemonhost or Plague Ogryn.
Aside from blocking, the Slab Shield provides many relentless attacks which can stagger enemies with every swing. The damage done by the Slab Shield may be a bit low, but it brings unmatched defensive power to your team, especially in small rooms or choke points. As for the best weapon blessings in Darktide to use with it, we recommend using Confident Strike, Skullcrusher, or Thunderstrike.
2. Krourk MkIII Cleaver – The Best All-Around Ogryn Weapon in Darktide
The Krourk Mk III Cleaver is our favorite amongst the other three available Cleavers for our Ogryn loadouts. We chose this version because of its moveset; it includes Vanguard light attack types to Cleave through hordes, accompanied by one Strikedown and one Vanguard heavy attack chain.
We love this weapon because you can chain one light and one heavy attack for consistent horde clearance or use the Strikedown heavy to bushwhack enemy Ogryns.
The Cleaver is one of the best all-around Ogryn weapons you can choose. Aside from its moveset, all Cleavers offer amazing cleaving, have great penetration stats for armored targets, and include a punch special attack that can stagger even Crushers. We highly recommend paying close attention to the Cleaver movesets if you want to upgrade to another version since their movesets differ heavily from one another.
The Cleaver pairs extremely well with our Ogryn Skullbreaker bleed build. As for Blessings, we recommend Slaughterer, Momentum, Confident Strike, Unstoppable Force, or Thrust.
3. Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler
The Rumbler is a very satisfying and unique weapon that definitely fits an Ogryn’s playstyle. It is described as having more in common with a mortar than a typical grenade launcher, and we couldn’t agree more. The Rumbler fires a single grenade with a delayed detonation, making for some hilarious moments.
Normally, having this delayed explosion would be underwhelming; however, directly impacting an enemy with the grenade does a decent amount of damage and staggers them back, making the Rumbler not only an explosive weapon but also decent at single-target staggering.
You can fire the Rumbler into a horde of Poxwalkers, rack up tons of kills while knocking the surviving ones around, or directly impact a Sniper to score a headshot kill. The Rumbler also has penetration, which makes it great for almost any situation if you don’t mind reloading after every shot.
However, this great Ogryn weapon does not perform well in Darktide when used on bosses or Monstrosities. Yet, the Adhesive Charge Blessing fixes this problem and allows for your grenades to stick to those enemies. In addition to that Blessing, we recommend Shattering Impact or Gloryhunter for dealing with armored targets.
4. Brute-Brainer MK III Latrine Shovel
The Latrine Shovel is a supersized shovel that fits a soldier of the Imperial Guard. Do not underestimate the Latrine Shovel, as it is a versatile weapon specializing in dealing with hordes and armored enemies.
It is considered a versatile weapon due to its moveset, which includes every weapon attack type except for Assassin. Relentless, Vanguard, and Strikedown; it has all three, providing the weapon with great crowd control, horde clearing, and single target damage.
The Strikdown is especially powerful, capable of cracking a Mauler’s head open in three or four swings. On the downside, this weapon takes a decent amount of time to learn, and its blocking animation is relatively slow. We would easily hold this weapon in higher regard if it weren’t for the slow blocking speed. As for Blessings on this great Darktide Ogryn class weapon, we recommend Brutal Momentum, Confident Strike, or Thrust.
5. Krourk Mk V Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber
The twin-linked, fully automatic Heavy Stubber is one of the best spray-and-pray weapons in the game, and we absolutely love it. The Heavy Stubber is ideal for mowing down hordes of enemies without ever letting your finger off the trigger. With its high ammo capacity, you’ll feel like you’re in a grim dark Rambo film.
The Heavy Stubber has the longest effective range compared to other Ogryn weapons and offers great Stagger, Impact, and Suppression. Even though it does not have a weapon stat for penetration, this gun still works wonders against armored targets.
However, this weapon Suppresses enemies like no other gun in Darktide. Simply spraying into a horde for almost a solid minute of constant gunfire will force your enemies to stay behind cover until you have to reload. Suppression in Darktide is a very important combat mechanic to master and use to your advantage.
Speaking of reloading, the Heavy Stubbers’ only major downside is that the reload does take a long time to finish. Still, this weapon might be for you if you want to bulldoze through hordes, suppress over a dozen enemies, and continuously knock back armored Elite enemies and Specials. As for Blessings, we recommend using Blaze Away, Ceaseless Barrage, Deathspitter, or Inspiring Barrage.

1. Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun
For those who are looking for a more up-close and personal gunplay experience, we recommend the Ripper Gun Mk II. We specifically chose the Mk II version since it offers a balanced playstyle instead of leaning fully into horde clearing or single-target fights like the other versions.
The Ripper Gun is a fantastic semiautomatic shotgun with a high rate of fire and decent armor penetration, making it great for all close-range encounters. Furthermore, because it is a shotgun, this great Darktide Ogryn weapon excels in small areas and close-quarters combat but lacks in range. The Ripper Gun’s main downside is the slightly long reload time and sometimes underwhelming magazine size.
However, combined with the Flechette Blessing, it fits perfectly with our recommended Ogryn bleed build; we also recommend Blaze Away or Cavalcade to increase raw damage output.
2. Blastoom Mk III Grenadier Gauntlet
Lastly, we have the Grenadier Gauntlet on our list of the best Ogryn weapons for your next Darktide build. This weapon is unique because it is one of the few multi-purpose guns in Darktide. This Gauntlet not only shoots explosive grenades which detonate on impact and have great penetration for armored targets.
This gun is also a melee weapon, allowing the Ogryn to swipe and knock down their foes before blasting them to pieces at point-blank range.
The Grenadier Gauntlet also has a special attack, which causes the Ogryn to punch an enemy with the Gauntlet and then fire a grenade after the punch lands. This move works wonders against tougher targets like Maulers.
