Golf games, or the sport itself, aren’t as mainstream as other video games or sports, but the following is sizeable. However, the best golf games on the PS4 are those that bring originality and freshness with them.
Golf games in the traditional style have come a long way from the ones with pixelated graphics and rigid control schemes. But even more impressive is the innovation and accurate depiction of golf mechanics now present in modern-day gold games.
Which Golf Games On PS4 Are The Best?
Today, we’ll look at 5 of the best golf games playable on the PlayStation 4. Of course, most of the entries are multiplatform, and therefore you can play them on other consoles, but we’re Sony fanboys. Anyway, before the flames of the console wars get stoked again, let’s begin!
1. Dangerous Golf
Okay, so we’ve got a bit of a confession to make regarding traditional golf games. We usually appreciate the sport, but the game is infinitely better for us when the final destination levels of hazards are a part of it. The focus of Dangerous Golf is not on the rules of the game, or realistic physics for that matter, but it sure as hell is fun to play.
After hitting the ball once, the focus shifts to an arcade game-like setting. Players must keep the momentum going without slowing down. The ball bounces from pillar to post, smashing into objects, walls, roofs, and everything else along the way. Players maximize the score by hitting those objects that grant bonus points and boosts that prevent the destruction from ending.
Multiplayer and co-op modes are available for the game, and it’s better to grab a friend to play it because then you can brag to each other about high scores. From the absurdity and entertainment factor, Dangerous Gold is a certified hit in our books and is most definitely worth your time.
2. Everbody’s Golf
Stupid question, are you a fan of anime aesthetics like us? Duh answer, of course, you are! Anyone who owns a PS4 has a secret soft spot for Japanese culture. Anyway, Everbody’s Golf cleverly combines the two things in an amalgamation of ideas, and the result is worthy of high praise.
The PlayStation 4 exclusive is one of the best golf games ever. The game’s controls are straightforward, and there is a classic approach to how players line up their shots. A meter for impact behind the shot appears above the playable character’s head. Next, players choose the angle and aim distance. Finally, there is a third meter for accuracy, which determines the likelihood of success.
The simplistic method of the gameplay of Everybody’s Golf shouldn’t go underestimated, as the game is highly addictive. Plus, the game has many customization options, including attire, accessories, and facial features. A guaranteed way to have a great time with the game is by playing with friends and using the VR headset for enhanced immersion.
3. The Golf Club 2019
Considered by many golf pundits to be an impossible task, the developers of The Golf Club 2019 silenced the naysayers. The outstanding execution of realistic golf mechanics in a video game is a grand feat that deserves celebration.
Everything that can affect a realistic game of golf is present in The Golf Club 2019. From the terrain of the course, surface shrubbery and even weather conditions such as moisture and humidity are there. The physics in the game aren’t over-the-top nonsensical; instead, the proportions and angular shots depend on good button timing.
The game also has customized courses that players can create and tinker around to shake things up from regular ones. Designing a layout helps establish new ways to play the game and creates a learning curve. Also, the game’s graphics are incredibly gorgeous, making The Golf Club 2019 one of the best golf games ever.
4. Golf Club: Wasteland
Who says Golf games can’t have an engaging story mode? Because Golf Club: Wasteland is the perfect response to those critics. The game’s premise is in the aftermath of a world-ending disaster. The world population is no more, and only our playable golfer character, and some tame wildlife, are around.
The whole game isn’t only a simple story; there are well-thought-out and carefully prepared puzzles to solve. The gameplay involves using golfing shots to land the ball on platforms and hitting switches to unlock blocked paths. Each time players progress past an obstacle, more of the story becomes revealed about the origins of the apocalypse.
Golf Club: Wasteland is far from a regular golfing experience, yet it’s equally as immersive for fans who appreciate its creative direction. The musical notes in the background and the somber atmosphere mesh together exceptionally well. The colors and graphical presentation contrast brilliantly, depicting a depressing story within a beautifully vibrant aesthetic.
5. 100ft Robot Golf
To be perfectly honest, golf mechanics and mech battles crossover isn’t something we ever imagined, but we’re glad it happened. It’s like the creators of 100ft Robot Golf poured their love for transformers and mecha anime into a golf simulator. The result is a criminally underrated masterpiece, as more people should play this game.
You play as one of the giant robots as you and your buddies engage in a friendly golf game. The only thing is, the city is human lego size, while we are tall monstrous robots. The competition is fierce, and there can only be one winner. Smash down buildings, tackle other robots out of the way, shoot down, and sabotage your opponent’s shot.
Players are encouraged not to let anything stand in the way of the trajectory of their golf ball shot. The game has fully voiced commentary between matches filled with funny dialogues for each player’s unique action. The chaotic action golf game is also playable in split-screen, which we’re always down to try.
