Call of Duty: Warzone 2 launched shortly after Modern Warfare 2 (2022), and many of the systems and guns you see in Warzone 2 came from it. Assault rifles are perfect for any battle royale game mode, and they’re as good as they were in Warzone 1. That is why we’ll be covering the best assault rifles and loadouts that you can put together in Warzone 2.
An assault rifle is arguably the most popular weapon type in Call of Duty across the board. They can be applied to nearly every situation that you’ll find yourself in, and you can now mold them into whatever you need via the new Gunsmith weapon attachment system. Free-to-play Warzone 2 has a huge map, which means that you’ll need an assault rifle good enough to roll enemy squads.
How Good Are Assault Rifles in Warzone 2?
Warzone 1’s weapon class meta nearly always centered itself around assault rifles. And to be honest, it makes complete sense. Assault rifles were always built to fulfill a general need or purpose. Whether you are fighting someone at shorter or longer ranges, they will, in most cases, perform identically.
The role of assault rifles in Call of Duty is diverse, and that will likely never change. They act the same way in Warzone 2, and a lot of the current assault rifles can easily win you a game if you play your cards right. However, you need to have the proper loadout and attachments in Warzone 2 in order to be able to fully utilize a specific assault rifle.
We’re going to show you which assault rifles you should use in Warzone 2, and what specific loadout goes well with them. We will also include a full list of attachments for every assault rifle, as those will help you tap into the true power of an assault rifle. Default assault rifles are decent, but they won’t do you any good on a map as huge as Al Mazrah.
Naturally, not all assault rifles will be up to your playstyle’s standard. There are a lot of ways for you to engage enemies in this game, meaning that you likely won’t find all of these loadouts useful. Regardless, we’ll make sure to cover assault rifles that match general playstyles. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s dive into the best assault rifles and their loadouts.
1. Best Kastov 762 Loadout in Warzone 2
Even in its base form, the Kastov 762 has proven to be one of the best assault rifles in both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 (2022). Its performance in-game is unmatched, especially when you consider its high headshot damage.
The Kastov 762’s biggest disadvantage is its relatively poor damage range and high recoil. There are quite a few attachments that help mitigate that, which is why we’re going to show you an attachment setup that decreases recoil whilst also increasing damage range. We’ll also cover other variables that you’re going to need to complete the loadout.
Best Kastov 762 Attachments
Here’s the most optimal Warzone 2 attachment setup that you can use on your Kastov 762:
- Optic: VLK 4.0 Optic
- Muzzle: Polarfire-S
- Barrel: KAS-10 584mm
- Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90
- Magazine: 40 Round Mag
Starting off with the optic. The VLK 4.0 Optic is everything you’re going to need when it comes to an optical attachment. The 4.0x magnification is more than enough for most of Al Mazrah’s lines of sight. The Polarfire-S is an important attachment in this build, as it will increase your damage range, bullet velocity, and recoil smoothness. To top it all off, it also suppresses your weapon.
The KAS-10 584mm Barrel, once again, improves damage range, recoil control, and bullet velocity. All of this will allow you to be more consistent at longer ranges. The FSS Sharkfin 90 has no apparent cons, and it increases aiming idle stability. The 40 Round Mag is self-explanatory; it’s a must-have attachment in a game with 150 players.
Perks & Other Equipment
Now you know the best attachment build for the Kastov 762 for Warzone 2. With that out of the way, let’s see what you’re going to need in terms of perks and other secondary equipment in order to make this gun shine. You may not agree with the perk package chosen, but that can always be switched to something that suits you personally.
We’ve compiled a list of items that you should pair with the Kastov 762. It includes a secondary weapon, perk package, lethal and tactical equipment:
- Secondary Weapon: .50 GS or X13 Auto
- Perk Package: Specter (Double Time, Tracker, Spotter, Ghost)
- Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor or Flash Grenade
- Lethal: Drill Charge
- Field Upgrade: Battle Rage or Portable Radar
Picking a secondary weapon that works well with the Kastov 762 is easy. It mostly depends on which secondary works best with your playstyle. The .50 GS hits hard, but it requires a great deal of accuracy to be efficient. The X13 Auto, on the other hand, is a safer bet, and it allows you to secure the kill on a downed enemy. Still, this choice will be mostly up to you.
Many people agree that the Specter perk package is the best perk package that you can use with the Kastov 762. It goes hand in hand with it and allows you to approach gunfights differently. Double Time and Ghost will let you outplay enemies easier, especially if UAVs are being spammed in your vicinity. If you pair these perks with the Heartbeat Sensor tactical, then you’re going to be unstoppable.
Lastly, if you do stumble upon the Battle Rage or Portable Radar field upgrades, make sure to pick up at least one. Battle Rage will help you stay alive longer in both gunfights and outside of the zone. The portable radar, however, will come in clutch when you’re stuck in the last ring with 10 players around you. Both of these will be crucial for your survival.
2. Best TAQ-56 Assault Rifle Loadout in Warzone 2
The TAQ-56 might not be of Russian origin, but it still hits just as hard. It’s one of the most used assault rifles in Modern Warfare 2, DMZ, and Warzone 2. It has a slower rate of fire, but each shot hits as a tank would. The fact that it has a slower fire rate also makes it very accurate, which is why it’s a fan favorite in all game modes.
The only real downside to this weapon is its slow fire rate. There are plenty of weapons in Warzone 2 that can shred you in a second if you’re not careful, and those are mostly high-fire-rate SMGs. Although we can’t really increase its fire rate, we can bring out the full strengths of this Warzone 2 assault rifle loadout by using certain attachments.
Best TAQ-56 Attachments
Just like with the Kastov 762, the TAQ-56 needs a bit of “juice” to get it working properly in-game. That’s why we’ve made a list of the best attachments for it:
- Rear Grip: FSS Combat Grip
- Muzzle: Echoless-80
- Magazine: 40 Round Mag
- Underbarrel: VX Pineapple
- Barrel: 17.5″ Tundra Pro
The FSS Combat grip is your best bet when it comes to grips that improve recoil control. The TAQ-56 will have a sizeable amount of recoil, so going with this rear grip instead of an optic is recommended. The Echoless-80 muzzle is the first attachment that will start increasing damage range and bullet velocity, whilst also suppressing your weapon.
We’re going for a longer barrel again because it drastically increases damage range and recoil steadiness. However, having a barrel this long will impact your aim down sight speed negatively.
We’re also putting the VX Pineapple grip on this gun in an attempt to increase recoil steadiness even more. Lastly, we opted to go for the 40-round mag simply because we already have too many cons to deal with.
Perks & Other Equipment to Use on the Assault Rifle Loadout in Warzone 2
The perks and equipment that you’re going to want to pair with the TAQ-56 are pretty similar to the Kastov 762. We tried to build this loadout for a more passive, but still very tanky playstyle. Lower fire rate weapons can’t effectively be utilized for rushing, which is why we decided to go for something that complements sedentary gameplay.
Moving on, here’s another list of everything miscellaneous you’re going to need to complete this loadout:
- Secondary Weapon: X12 or X13 Auto
- Perk Package: Vanguard (Double Time, Bomb Squad, Resupply, High Alert)
- Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor
- Lethal: Proximity Mine
- Field Upgrade: Portable Radar or Recon Drone
We’re not going with the .50 GS this time around. The TAQ-56 complements pistols like the X12 and X13 a bit better. Still, the X13 Auto will always be the better choice in regard to finishing off downed enemies.
As for the perk package, Vanguard seemed like a good choice for our custom TAQ-56 loadout. Double Time is great for mobility, and Bomb Squad will let you tank a lot of explosive damage. Resupply will help you lock down a building with your proximity mines, you won’t have to worry about any random ambushes. And lastly, High Alert will alert you if anyone is looking in your general direction.
Bringing a portable radar alongside proximity mines is a must. Portable radars are vital in late-game circles, and will help you secure a sure win. Getting a recon drone is optional, but it’s useful if you want to stay one step ahead of any oncoming squads. Recon drones prove to be exceptionally useful in the last circle.
3. Best Lachmann-556 AR Loadout in Warzone 2
A lot of people seem to disregard the Lachmann-556 assault rifle, but it’s one of the most consistent weapons in Warzone 2 right now. Even though it may not fire as quickly as some weapons, it is still really good when you put on the right attachments. You can dish out some serious firepower if you treat it right.
The Lachmann-556 may not have many apparent cons, and although consistent, it does sometimes fall short when compared to other assault rifles. It is still in its own league, though, and not much can take away from its consistent nature. As with the previous loadouts, there are a few attachments that can really turn this weapon into a beast.
Best Lachmann-556 Attachments
Although its initial damage range is decent, there are other aspects that we can look to improve or change in this top Warzone 2 assault rifle loadout:
- Muzzle: Echoless-80
- Barrel: 15.9″ Lachmann RAPP
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Rear Grip: LMK64 Grip
- Magazine: 60 Round Mag
There’s a reason why the Echoless-80 appeared on this list earlier – it’s one of the best muzzle attachments that you can equip to your assault rifles in Warzone 2. We decided not to include an optic here as well, the Lachmann-566’s iron sights are simply too good for you to need an optic in this loadout in the first place.
The underbarrel attachment of our choice here is the Commando Foregrip. This gives you more aiming idle stability and recoil stabilization. The only con that comes with this foregrip is reduced aim down sight speed, which will be mitigated by the following attachment: the LMK64 Rear Grip.
The LMK64 Grip enhances your aim down sight and sprint to fire speed, which cancels out the cons of the aforementioned underbarrel attachment. The 60-round mag may seem like an odd option, considering that it comes with a lot of cons. But, consistent weapons like this excel with bigger mags, especially on bigger maps.
Perks & Other Equipment
The Lachmann-556 is quite diverse, and it can be played in an assault rifle loadout in Warzone 2 in many different ways. It can adapt to most playstyles, and it has the potential to help you win more games. Just like with the other weapons on this list, you’re going to need specific equipment and perk packages in order to bring out all of its worthy qualities.
- Secondary Weapon: Fennec 45 (SMG) or Signal 50 (Sniper Rifle)
- Perk Package: Weapon Specialist (Overkill, Strong Arm, Spotter, Survivor)
- Tactical: Stim
- Lethal: Drill Charge
- Field Upgrade: Bomb Drone or Munitions Box
The Overkill perk allows you to bring a second primary weapon, and we’ll be using this to either equip a Fennec 45 SMG or Signal 50 Sniper Rifle. The Fennec 45 is the fastest-firing SMG in the game, and it melts people in milliseconds. The Signal 50 is Warzone 2’s designated 50-cal sniper. Choosing which one you bring is entirely up to what you prefer.
The rest of the perks in the Weapon Specialist perk package are standard. Strong Arm lets you throw your equipment farther, and spotter allows you to spot almost anything other than players. Your ultimate perk will be survivor, and that will mark nearby enemies for your squad if you ever get downed yourself.
Use either a munitions box or bomb drone as your field upgrade. If you pair the Lachmann-556 with a Fennec SMG, we’d recommend going with the munitions box. Those two will shred through any stockpiles of ammo you have. If you decided to bring a sniper, then a bomb drone might be the more efficient choice.
Final Thoughts on the Best Assault Rifle Loadouts in Call of Duty: Warzone 2
Getting a custom loadout in Warzone 2 is somewhat difficult, so you have to ensure that they are adjusted for every possible scenario. The Gunsmith system in Warzone 2 is extensive, which is why we’d recommend tinkering with it. Who knows, you might end up creating an awesome loadout that others could find useful.
