Howdy fans of Xbox 360 adventure games, are y’all up for another trip down memory lane? We’re feeling like dusting off the ol’ 360 and the massive collection of titles on it. Why? Well, cause we wanna see which of them still hold up, of course. With Xbox’s excellent backward compatibility program, you might wanna do that too. You’ll experience when games were actually games and not live service disasters.

Anyway, the genre we’re specifically going for is the adventure games for Xbox 360. Yep, it’s all about games where the action is intense and maybe a slight twist of light RPG elements to spice up the formula. What we have for you today is gonna be an eye-opening experience for many. If you’re wondering how so? Well, we’ll tell ya, it’s cause you’ll see the spotlight on games that aren’t everyone’s first choice. Now, keep guessing till the end.

Which Xbox 360 Adventure Games Are Worth Playing?

Before we dive into our list of epic adventure games on Xbox 360, we’re gonna set some ground rules. Here’s the deal:

    • The games we’re gonna pick are mostly gonna be exclusive to the Xbox 360 console, but it’s not necessary. So don’t come whining in the comments if a game’s multiplatform, capeesh? Good!
    • Secondly, we’re only picking adventure games that offer a fun and exciting time for players. Not the generic, boring experience that the sea of soulless and uninspired titles have.
    • Lastly, we’re not picking the mainstream names that everyone considers the greatest Xbox 360 games ever. So Gears Of War and Forza games, which have an element of adventure to them, are outta contention.

Alright, that’s gonna do it, now let’s get this party started! Here we go!

    6. Vigilante 8 Arcade – Vehicular Combat Action and Open Road Adventure Await

Vigilante 8 Arcade is one of the most fun Xbox 360 adventure games.

We’re kicking off our list of fantastic adventure games on Xbox 360 with Vigilante 8 Arcade. This absolute mayhem-heavy and chaotic vehicular combat game is tons of fun. Basically, this was Xbox 360’s answer to Sony’s Twisted Metal, and boy, did it deliver some great action. Sure, Vigilante 8 Arcade isn’t perfect; the game’s got its fair share of bugs, glitches, and downright problematic camera angling. However, overall, we enjoyed the game a lot.

You get to drive around the open road in alternative history with a character and the vehicle of your choice. Said character’s backstory unlocks as you progress through their campaign and collect documents. You go about collecting salvage parts to upgrade your vehicles and unlock new color schemes for them. You clash with A.I.-controlled opponents as you bash, shoot, blast, and nudge them off track and destroy their vehicles.

The enemy A.I. can be really challenging in late game, so you gotta make sure you find those upgrades ASAP. In Vigilante 8 Arcade, you can also play with a friend and team up with a buddy to take out enemies like in our top co-op split-screen games. There’s a great layer of strategy involved in the game where you lay mine traps or fire heat-seeking missiles by tailing your enemies. Vigilante 8 Arcade is a total blast from start to finish.

    5. Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom – An Extremely Fun Xbox 360 Hack-and-Slash RPG Adventure

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom is one of the most addictive Xbox 360 RPG adventure games.

If you love yourself some hack-and-slash action RPG games, you’ll definitely get a kick out of Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom. This is one the most phenomenal Xbox 360 adventure games, mish-mashing all the satisfying genre elements. You get likable characters and unlock more as you progress through the game and form a party with them. Also, in Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom, players unlock powerful skills and magical attacks that deliver devastating blows to enemies.

The game’s combat is its major appeal. You always have a powerful character that you control, and their attacks create new dynamics that you can fully utilize to full effect with the right pairing. Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom has none of the turn-based or real-time-strategy style of gameplay; it’s more in line with AAA hack-and-slashers. You see a group of enemies and engage in battle, simple as that.

There are a plethora of armor, weapons, and accessories that enhance the power of the base attacks. Plus, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom has a really meaningful character progression system. The stats allocation defines your playstyle. There’s also a weapon fusion mechanic that depends on the luck stat as well as the state of the moon in-game. There’s great depth to customization in Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

    4. Kameo – One of the Most Brilliant Yet Underrated Xbox 360 Adventure Games Ever

    Kameo.

Oh boy, this next choice at the halfway point of exciting Xbox 360 adventure games went through literal development hell. Kameo is a highly original concept that Rare materialized their vision for after their Microsoft buyout. You control a young girl with the ability to transform into multiple creature forms, each one with unique abilities. Kameo is a game with a timeless appeal that still holds up magnificently well, even today.

The game starts off with the young girl, Kameo, taking the crown from her sister, who summons and makes a pact with the evil troll king, Thorn. To rescue the rest of her family, Kameo must go through a swarm of enemies and use her creature transformation powers to bypass obstacles. Don’t worry, though; the game’s idea of puzzles is non-existent and there’s even an assist mode if you’re having trouble.

Kameo’s the kind of game you play when you wanna turn off your brain and just enjoy smashing around enemies. You unlock elemental powers just at the right time to smash through any blockade, and you can breeze on ahead. There’s enough variety in creature forms to keep the experience feeling fresh. The best way to describe Kameo is a mashing of Ben 10 before it was a thing with a heavy helping of beat’em up brawlers.

    3. Naruto: The Broken Bond – Anime Fun With Highly Compelling Game Mechanics

    Naruto: The Broken Bond.

If you wanna add a little anime flavor to the Xbox 360 adventure games, look no further than Naruto: The Broken Bond. This brilliant game is another underrated gem that many people have slept on. Possessing the music, voice-cast, and vibes of the Naruto anime, Naruto: The Broken Bond is kind of like a more in-depth experience. It adds to the enjoyment and provides some context not in the show.

The gameplay isn’t the easiest; we’ll give you that, though, as there’s always a constant pressure during traversal segments. You gotta compete in ninja-style racing, then perform quick-time-events at the drop of a hat. And if that’s not enough, you’ve gotta all of a sudden master combos as the gameplay shifts to a one-on-one 3D fighting game. It’s bonkers and can feel a bit overwhelming for new players, but it’s sure as heck fun.

Naruto: The Broken Bond is a faithful retelling of the anime story, but the interactive sessions with side characters are the show-stealer. All the playable characters in the campaign play a part and are integrated brilliantly into the game design. When it comes to fights, the game quickly cranks up the action to 11, and every ninja’s movesets, jutsus, and abilities make the experience feel highly enjoyable. Naruto: The Broken Bond gets a definite thumbs up from us.

    2. Far Cry: Instincts – Our Runner-Up Choice for Great Xbox 360 Adventure Games

    Far Cry: Instincts.

Ahh, now we’re cooking with gas! Our runner-up pick for the best Xbox 360 adventure games is Far Cry: Instincts. This game is all the rage, and we can’t believe it’s one of the Xbox brand exclusives. The first-person action is sublime and fluid, plus you get all the wacky traversal that comes with upgrades (and story reasons). Far Cry: Instincts also has a compelling lead protagonist who can easily stand among our favorite video-game characters.

Far Cry: Instincts is actually a remake of the first game in the Far Cry series. What it lacks in fidelity, it makes up for with new features like the feral powers that the protagonist possesses. These feral powers give him unrivaled stamina, speed, agility, and strength. Plus, his senses are also heightened, which he can use to detect enemies and lay out traps for them. Far Cry: Instincts brings a compelling plot with twists and turns that’ll leave you on the edge of your seat.

Playing as an ex-soldier, you immediately gravitate toward and sympathize with the hero, who just wants to live a normal life and earn a clean living. He gets pulled into all manner of conflicts and manipulation. Gang warfare and illegal arms dealing with political factions in a tug-of-war are the central themes of Far Cry: Instincts. On the plus side, you get to use guns, explosives, and abilities to vent your frustrations; not a bad deal, right?

    1. Darksiders 2 – The Rider of The Apocalypse Eclipses Other Xbox 360 Adventure Games

    Darksiders 2.

Alrighty then! For the top choice of Xbox 360 adventure games, we’re going with a personal favorite because it’s freaking awesome! Darksiders 2 exceeded all our expectations upon release, and the lead character, Death, had us in awe. Ever since Darksiders 2, the series has become our most beloved action-adventure hack-and-slash story-driven video games of all time. We’re fanboying so hard because it’s a cross between Legend Of Zelda, Prince Of Persia, and God Of War.

Players step into the shoes of Death, one of the riders and the leader of the horsemen of the apocalypse, in service to the Charred Council. The Council is punishing War, Death’s brother, for a crime War didn’t commit. So, to help his brother, Death goes to undo the crime of armageddon and restore humanity. Darksiders 2 is Death’s journey, which shows his internal torment and how he’s torn between his duty and kin. Death’s personality is charming and likable; he cares in his own way.

In Darksiders 2, Death traverses multiple realms, from The Crowfather’s icy veil to the luscious land of the Makers, Heaven’s Lostlight, and the Black Throne in the demonic realm. The environments are beautiful and alluring, and there’s a great deal of variety in Death’s attacks, including melee and necromancy skill trees. Plus, he’s got a Reaper form that obliterates enemies. The boss fights are an absolute highlight of Darksiders 2 as well. Oh yeah, this game’s soundtrack is GOAT, undoubtedly.
